Deciding something is important enough to take to Small Claims Court doesn't mean the matter will actually reach the Court stage. It may be settled at the mandatory Settlement Conference held prior to the Trial. Each matter is a different story.

The Law Society of Upper Canada has changed its name to the Law Society of Ontario. They are currently considering allowing licensed Paralegals to function within Family Law. At this time, details have not been revealed.

When you receive a Notice of an Infraction, discussing it with a Paralegal can be a very wise first step. Being served with a Plaintiff's Claim in Small Claims Court may require assistance to navigate and assist in preparing your Statement of Defence in a timely manner. A Provincial Offence under the Highway Traffic Act given to you does not necessarily mean you are guilty. You have the right to defend yourself.
