To all our supporters....Today was the last day JUMP will be serving meals at 185 Royal Av, - The Royal Social Club WE have generously turned over the lease and keys to our kitchen so that BC Housing, CMHA and City of Kamloops would open up Kamloops first 24/7 shelter/bridge housing project for 40 women and men in desperate need of shelter this winter. We are working on finding a new location and partners to bring back the 15 meals we do each week for those members of our com...munity most in need of food security. Call For Submissions The BIG Edition May Issue Deadline April 23 rd Dear Community Members, Artists, Writers, Poets and Organizations, The May BIG Edition ...Issue theme is Diverseabilities! Whether you are an individual with a disability (diverseability), a support worker, family member or concerned citizen, we are wanting your creative input for this special issue. The week of May 6-13 is Mental Health Awareness Week, and May is also a month of many community events that highlight the many challenges we have as a community to be accepting of all people in all their positive cultural, sexual, health manifestations, expressions and choices. The BIG Edition is always an available community tool and platform to shine a light on our collective efforts to achieve a compassionate and sustainable city. So here is your opportunity to be a part of something great for our city and especially for the people who have challenges with their physical and or mental health. We know that there are great stories out there that tell the tale of how we cope, strive and achieve against all odds !!! Please keep your stories & articles to 500 -750 words WE want to hear about your Diverseabilities !!! The February Issue of The BIG Edition ("The BIG E") will be available January 28th online as a PDF, and the magazine will be available on February 1 st. Online... copies are $5 through etransfer to [email protected] Locations to purchase copies of the magazine will be posted on our fb page February 1. If you would like to sponsor a "BIG E" street vendor providing her/him with 40 free copies to sell on the streets of Kamloops, then please donate through etransfer $20. Your sponsorship will provide 40 copies to a street vendor who in turn will sell them for $3 each and make a profit of $120. Your $20 sponsorship will turn into $120 for a person who is homeless or living on a low fixed income. The BIG Edition is an alternative to panhandling in Kamloops !!!

A new Magazine To Launch in Kamloops January 11th, 2019 ** find ISSUE #! in Kamloops This Week ** THE "BIG E" EDITION...MORE THAN JUST A MAGAZINE !... The BIG E- Edition mission is to relieve and reduce poverty and support vendors of our magazine -people who are marginalized and have multiple barriers to employment, the homeless, those struggling with mental health and addiction and people living in chronic poverty. It's an alternative to panhandling. Our goals are: 1) empowerment through building pride, confidence, self - esteem and financial security; 2) program sustainability by the creation of a social enterprise economy that values entrepreneurship, collective and community reinvestment and sharing of revenues; 3 ) creating permanent jobs for people with Lived Experience; 4) creating an alternative source of information for the public on important socio-cultural issues, as well as a platform for the public to express themselves as contributors to the magazine.
