If you know a youth or young adult (16-30) looking for employment, send them to Jumpstart Employment Essentials! We have another group starting in November and we're recruiting now! Participants are paid for 6 weeks while they are trained and search for a job.

A Jumpstart Testimonial: My name is Megan, I'm 16 and Jumpstart had a huge impact on my life. When I came to Jumpstart I wasn't in a very good place in my life. I recently lost my mom and I've been having a really hard time peicing my life back together. I've struggled a lot with my motivation to attend school and work on making sure my needs were met. I honestly don't think I cared if I had what I needed. Jumpstart provided me with a safe place to go everyday where for the f...irst time in a long time I felt supported. That feeling of openness and support is what helped motivate me to attend every day. Going into the program I thought that all that they did was help find employment and get certifications, but they provided so many other important skills that I didn't even realize I needed. I learned a lot of skills surrounding emotional regulation and anxiety that I use on a daily basis. I also found some self confidence building strategies that have been really helpful for me. Since jumpstart i've been working full time as a housekeeper at the sandman and I feel confident and happy going into work everyday. Before I took the program I think I would have had a really hard time adjusting to my work environment but jumpstart really prepared me for the transition into my new job, and I've been able to count on Shelley and Peter to give me advice when I have been overwhelmed adjusting. Soon after Jumpstart ended I ended up living in a transition house where I'm going to be staying until I find housing. Shelley and Peter helped me quite a bit to figure out what my next steps needed to be and ensure that I was okay. Overall I think the skills I've learned at jumpstart will benefit me in my future employment for the rest of my life, and im really grateful that I was given the opportunity to take the program.
