Protect that noggin’ with the OWSL’s new Helmet Rental and Exchange Program What does this mean you ask? And more importantly, why? The OWSL requires offensive players to wear protective helmets (batter, runners and on deck batter). So, with COVID-19 and extra precautions, we decided to offer a program to only share helmets within your team and not the entirety of the league at an affordable rate. ... For a small fee take advantage of the program; Interested teams will receive (5) helmets to share within your team for the duration of the season; We also provide single helmet options for individual players with the option to buy after completion of the season; You (as in the team and/or player) have the option to buy a helmet after the completion of the season (limited quantities); For those interested, please contact anyone on the OWSL Executive to get you and/or your team started! Limited quantities available.

Please be advised the OWSL Committee will kick off their first official meeting next week to discuss the upcoming season. Once we establish the 2021 OWSL Rules and Regulations, details from the Town of Oromocto and COVID-19 Protocols, we will then hold a meeting with TEAM REPS/COACHES and or CAPTAINS. At this time, please reach out to your respective teams to seek interest for the upcoming season to ensure you can plan accordingly. ... If you have any comments, questions or concerns in the meantime, please send me a PM or email me AT [email protected] and I’d be happy to help!

We have certainly seen some incredibly challenging and unprecedented of times in the last few months. Although we all must remain vigilant and committed to protecting the health and wellness of everyone, we have thankfully reached an agreement with the Town or Oromocto and Slo-Pitch National to play under the proposed Return to Play and Operational Guidelines developed by our League Executive. The OWSL will start June 24, 2020 with an extended season running into mid-Sept. T...he OWSL is 100% committed to providing our participants with every opportunity to return to play safely and productively this season, through events that we are able to offer, including league play. This document will be a working document and may need to be changed, updated and re-evaluated as new normals are established. We want to remind you that the OWSL Executive is here to help in whatever way we can and that the health and safety of all of our players, volunteers and partners remains our biggest priority. Please read the document in it’s entirety and ensure each and every one of your players understand and accept these guidelines. Each player MUST also sign the SPN Waiver before you can step onto the field (everything going forward is electronic). https://www.slo-pitch.com//slo-pitch-national-covid-19-upd If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email: [email protected]. I’d like to take this time to welcome our NEW OWSL Executive Committee members: Joanne Humphrey is our new TREASURER. Yes, she will be busy ensuring our financials are on point and tracking payments and fees. Let’s make her job hella easy and submit fees on time Sabrina Mulford is our new REGISTRAR. Sabrina currently develops schedules for PSP Gagetown’s Military Sporting teams and events. So, she’s a perfect fit! Sabrina will be developing schedules for league play, as wel...l as tournament(s). She will also be your contact to text or MSG scores to ensure we record WINS and LOSS appropriately. Amanda Coughlin is our new Sponsorship & Fundraising Coordinator...YES, we finally found someone! Ofcourse, we are still recruiting for a small committee for this position, as it is pertinent to the success and longevity of our league. I will also be assisting on the committee. Any takers? We are still looking for a Communications Coordinator, meaning a Social Media Guru and/or POC for team captains and coaches to pass along pertinent information throughout the season (as well as off season). No pressure! 2020 Committee is comprised of the following contacts: President - Alyssa Matetich Vice President - Clyde Clarke Registrar - Sabrina Mulford Treasurer - Joanne Humphrey Sponsorship & Fundraising Coordinator - Amanda Coughlin Communications Coordinator - Alyssa Matetich I thank each and everyone of you for stepping up to the plate (no pun intended) to ensure we run a seamless, organized and efficient league. Covid 19 May 26 Update Addressing Insurance Coverage Concerns We are excited to return to our National and Ontario Office located at 63 Galaxy Blvd Unit 4, ...Toronto to serve our membership for the 2020 season. Go to https://www.slo-pitch.com//covid-%E2%80%93-19-may-26-updat For the Complete Story and to Download THE MANDATORY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS PDF While we are still uncertain about the various opening plans for outdoor sports across many of the provinces and municipalities of Canada, we are preparing that there may eventually be some league and event participation this season, but with necessary modifications to the activities surrounding the game. We laid out some suggested guidelines earlier this month. Our online registration system remains open, and in the coming weeks we will have new updated waiver wording that has been amended to include a contagion clause, as all of our members need to acknowledge that they assume some risk when considering returning to play amidst the COVID-19 crisis. It will be mandatory that all participants complete the online waiver form. We have worked with our Insurance Provider to ensure we have the necessary coverage in place for returning to play. Upon receiving a request to provide a Certificate of Insurance coverage, organizers will be requested to follow a list of prerequisites to ensure that coverage is extended to responsible groups. These prerequisites include 1) Accepting to adhere to all Provincial and Local government restrictions, 2) Proof of permits and approval for play from your municipality 3) Submission of a return to play plan that will be reviewed and approved by Slo-Pitch National and 4) Mandatory online waiver forms completed by all participants. 5) Payment of all membership fees for 2020. While the recent news from GNB poses optimism for low contact sports, we must remind you that there are still many steps and considerations that have to be taken before our LEAGUE and AFFILIATES may step back onto the field. We understand many of you are very eager to get back to the game, but we kindly ask you to remain patient. We continue to work very hard on developing/finishing a thorough, yet realistic return to play protocol, and it will be promptly shared with our mem...bers in plenty of time for if/when we are able to return to play. Note - while sport organizations may be permitted to begin their seasons (as of May 29th), please keep in mind that the decision to open the fields is still up to each individual municipality.

April 6, 2020 To all our members As we continue into another week of the Covid 19 Crisis, Slo-Pitch National has transitioned our operations from our fulltime o...ffice to our home offices. The National Office staff emails are listed at the bottom of this message. We are available to answer any questions you may have about the 2020 season. There have been many inquiries from leagues and conveners who require insurance certificates for the 2020 season. These certificates will be issued when we have specific return timelines for each Region. Please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions about 2020 Insurance Certificates. We know that many groups and events are working on potential modifications, but this is challenging since there are many questions with no available answers. We encourage anyone needing some guidance to reach out to us. All scheduled events have been temporarily cancelled until further notice. This includes tournaments, umpire clinics and all regional meetings. We encourage all of our members to practice social distancing. This means to refrain from group meetings and team practices. Please ensure you are adhering to the practices set in place by all levels of government and health Canada. During this crisis we recognize that various regions across Canada have unique needs. We are here to address those needs and answer your specific questions via our Regional Directors and Offices. The contact information for each Regional Director is also listed at the bottom of this message. We will continue to be available to you by email and through our social media platforms, providing our members with weekly updates as they pertain to and affect our programs across Canada.
