Here's our second tip on surviving infertility through lockdown: Get some sunlight and fresh air everyday! Let's face it - some of our winter days can be pretty cloudy with no sunlight in sight, which makes it even more important to get as much vitamin D and fresh air as possible. Spending time outdoors is likely to improve your mood and concentration, encourage activity and fitness, and fuel your body's production of vitamin D. It's Movember, and we are helping to change the face of men's health by increasing awareness of common men's health issues. Here are the top 5 things worth knowing about men's health, both physical and mental: 1. Stay connected: Your friends are important, and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check-in, and make time. 2. Talk, more: You don't need to be an expert, and you don't have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening, an...d giving your time can be life-saving. 3. Know the numbers: At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it's right for you to have a PSA test. If you are of African or Caribbean descent, have a father or brother with prostate cancer, or another known risk factor, you should be having this conversation at 45. Know your numbers, know your risk, talk to your doctor. 4. Know thy nuts: Get to know what's normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn't feel right. 5. Move, more: Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good. Did you know Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men, yet 44% of men don't know how to perform a testicular self-examination 1 in 7 men in Canada will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and early detection is the key. There is a 98% chance of survival beyond 5 years Learn more about testicular and prostate cancer in the following links https://ca.movember.com/mens-health/testicular-cancer https://ca.movember.com/mens-health/prostate-cancer #prostatecancer #menshealth #testicularcancer #movember

As Ontario will soon start with phase one of COVID-19 vaccine rollout, we wanted to keep our community up to date with the recommendations regarding the safety of the vaccine. The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society released on Friday the following statement: "COVID-19 vaccine trials did not include pregnant people. Therefore, there is no data at the present time to suggest or deny efficacy or safety during pregnancy. It is our understanding that future studies may inclu...de pregnant people, and we will have data indicating both safety and effectiveness in this population in the coming months. Additionally, for those who are planning pregnancies, ongoing surveillance of people who have been vaccinated will identify those who subsequently became pregnant. Their pregnancies will be analyzed for any adverse outcomes. CFAS is establishing a COVID-19 vaccine and pregnancy committee with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) and we look forward to releasing subsequent joint statements in the future. In the interim, the CFAS continues to advocate the use of hand washing, masks, social distancing and adherence to the policies of local public health authority to minimize the spread of COVID-19." We will keep you posted as more information become available.
