Dog shaming with our Phoebe today!
I thought it was time for another photo of "Mom and her fur-babies" with Phoebe and Dexter, similar to the one we did with Hudson and Libby back in 2016 that is now my profile pic here. We took the photo in the fall and I'm finally getting around to posting it now!
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who shared my post and expressed an interest in this little girl. Her mom has decided to put rehoming her on hold for now, as she might have found a way to work around the situation that she is in. My sincerest apologies to anyone who was hoping to adopt her! If rehoming is back on the table again in the future, I will repost. Hi everyone! ! I have a dog boarding client who needs to rehome her little girl due to an unfortunate change in her circumst...ances. Here's what she has to say about her: "Great year old puppy. Best dog you'll ever have! Needs yard to play lots, and face to lick lots. Very energetic and loving." And it's true! She is a little sweetheart and a great cuddler! If anyone is interested in her, please PM me and I can get you in touch with her owner for more details. Thanks!
Our fur-baby, Dexter, has a new sister! This is Phoebe! Phoebe travelled all the way up from Ohio yesterday to join our family. Thank you sooo much to Marsha Roush from ATRA in Ohio, Phil Safford from ATRA who crossed the border with Phoebe, and Fran Ender from ATRA in Ontario, all of whom made this possible! Also thank you to Barb MacLean for helping with the home visit which enabled us to be approved for adoption with ATRA. You guys rock! Phoebe is 7, so she still has lots ...of energy, but she also has hip dysplasia, so we will need to restrict her play to keep her joints safe. She isn’t good with cats, but she’s great with all other dogs, and she and Dexter were perfect together from the moment we brought her home. We met a few other dogs while out on our walk this morning, and she was happy to meet all of them, including a gigantic Irish wolfhound! See more
Welcome to our family, Dexter!
Hi there My name is Ginger, and I am a 9 year old German shepherd. I am desperately looking for a new home. My mommy loved me for 6 wonderful years. My mommy was 94 and last week she got sick and and people in uniforms in a big white truck with flashing lights came and took her away. I waited and waited but she never came back. ... My aunty told me she has fallen asleep and will never wake up again. I am lonely and miss my mom. I need someone to love me. I need a home with someone who doesn’t have small pets. I think they are toys and I might play too hard. I’m not sure how I feel about bigger dogs. I wag my tail and want to play but I didn’t get to go outside to play much so I haven’t hung out with other dogs in a long time. I might be ok but I don’t really know. I like kids and I might be shy for a few minutes but then I love to lean on you and be petted. I am a sweet girl, very loyal, and super smart. I will sit and shake a paw for a cookie! I’m spayed and my mommy took me to the vet every year so I’m up to date on all my shots too. Please help me find a new home. Thank you, Ginger
Well, here I am again with sad news. Two dogs in two weeks. We’ve had a rough September. (On the bright side, they both lived good long lives, and we are all out of dogs now, so the sad news should stop after this.) Hudson was a stray/rescue of unknown breed (our best guess is Lab/shepherd) who we adopted in October of 2004, at the approximate age of 1 to 1 1/2 years. He arrived with a tapeworm (quickly noticed and fixed! Ick!) and lot of issues: separation anxiety, fear aggr...ession with other dogs, fear of men, fear of hats and uniforms, and more. He ate our mattresstwiceand for about a year required a sacrificial stuffy presented to him every morning before I went to work, so that he could take out his anxieties on the seams. Every night I would clean up the stuffing from all over the floor, and each morning we would start again with a new stuffy. But he was gaining confidence, and we were thrilled with the happier dog who eventually emerged. He was our first dog, and he taught us so much about patience and unconditional loveand also the importance of treats! That boy sure loved his food. And we sure loved him. Hudsie, your pain and stress is over now. Even on your worst days, you were always a Good Boy to us. Rest in peace. xo
Our little Libby. June 24, 2003 - September 14, 2018. Rest in peace, my sweet girl. xoxo
My views from "the office" this morning.
Three dogs, three separate dog walks, three little bags of poop. Although it is still early in the morning, I think it has already been a productive day!
