I never met this man in person but I know who he is, the entire travel industry knows who he is. He is the creator, the founder, the heartbeat of Sandals and Beaches Resorts. My heart goes out to the entire Sandals and Beaches family, all the staff, management, and to travel advisors who did know him personally. I feel this loss deeply as I have been a Sandals and Beaches Certified Specialist for 15 yrs. I know how close this company is and how loyal everyone is to each other. One of the perks of being a Travel Specialist is getting invited on FAM trips to experience the destination personally. This is not possible right now for obvious reasons BUT with the Internet we still get to learn and experience the destination virtually! When you believe in something so strongly, not just for yourself but for the collective, let your voice be heard. I want my clients to get their money back. In this interview I did with Global News I wanted to take a stand for my industry and make the point that the entire ecosystem depends on each other. I told the reporter that when the dust settles and travel is back, I want travel agents to still be here to send their clients to destinations like the Caribbean which for me is closest to my heart. If travel agents are financially devastated we won’t be here. ( there wasn’t enough time in the clip to include everything I said but that was an important to me)
