In really sad news, yesterday I found out that my first ever jujitsu coach Jake Sansom passed away. I made a post on my personal Facebook but I feel I need to ...say something on my MMA Facebook here as well. After all, without Jake I’m not sure how far I would have got. He helped me a lot in my early career and was someone I really looked up to. He left behind a wife and three children. My thoughts are with them. I can’t imagine what they are going through. Here are a couple pictures from my second MMA fight. Jake was in my corner and I won via submission thanks to the things he’d taught me. I will miss him as will everyone who knew him. Jake helped out anyone whenever anyone needed a hand. He was a good man and he had a kind heart. May he Rest In Peace. See more

And I’m not sure how to go on . You told me you would always be next to me and I’m so lost . I’m gasping for air and I’m drowning . This is my favourite picture of all . This is my Warrior , my strength ! And I can feel his love and strength with this picture . Cause he took it for me once w...hen I was upset cause I missed him and wanted him home . ( he was away north for work) . I remember thinking how lucky I was . Because he is so incredible. I was just shocked that a man as amazing as him could love me . And sooooo much . He loved me sooooo much and he never let me forget that the last couple years. We were stronger and more in love than ever before now then even when he took this pic . This man is my heart. See more

Nova Levasseur just tagged me in this . This , This , this is just who he was . This PERFECT . this was him . Just doing what he does , teaching and... guiding , and teasing and playing and just loving everyone . Especially all the kids that adored him . Gina and Myself and Jake Sansom took the kids to the forest to do a Healing Ceremony for Gina , cause she had Brain Cancer . Her next scans came back cancer free right after this day. He was so strong in his faith and Culture and Traditions he had respect for the Creator / God , and he had faith and love and it was strong . It was just his nature . See more

He was just him . I am sitting here with Jake Sansom’s sister Gina , and we are just taking all these amazing photos in . Over the years . He just Radiated , he... had a light that can never fade! I FEEL it , I feel it so much . And we know he will never let me go . He will never let any of us Go . He was incredible and Strong , and bright . He was Our Super Hero , his little Wolf Pack of kids always following him to find out what the next adventure or game or to learn a new cool life lesson. How to Hunt, how to track, How to build shelter and fire , and to feed their familes , he taught them traditions and ceremonies and he had magic hands as the kids say, cause he can heal with hands . His strength is incredible. He was the FOUNDATION of our family , and Everyone around him as well. But his light is here . I can feel him around me gripping me . Telling me I am strong too. I am so in love with this incredible man . All these amazing memories, and I’m able to sit here and just take it in with Gina right now and the kids. We are feeling his love , and because of his radiating light he has made sure that I can grieve with a little room to breathe , because of the amazing support from all our loved ones, community , friends and family from everywhere , and peoples stories of how much they loved him , he has made sure we know that we will be ok. You all are amazing , strangers and family alike . Thank you for holding us up ( this is includes Ginas words as well cause she is seeing it with me) from everyone around us , and I can just grieve without worrying about anything else right now . I feel his hand on me giving me strength. The kids feel it too. We will be strong cause we had him . I am so incredibly lucky that I got to be his Wife and that we made these beautiful children together. His light will keep me afloat . Thank you everyone . A huge ...thank you to Barons Fire, Picture Butte Fire, Coalhurst Fire, Coaldale Fire, MD of Willow of Creek, Vulcan County Emergency Services which consisted of Carmangay Fire, Champion Fire, and Vulcan County Fire.
