How safe is #midwifery care? There is a large body of evidence that supports midwifery care as a safe choice for low-risk healthy women and other pregnant peopl...e. Midwifery is a trusted and respected profession in many countries around the world. In fact, researchers found that mothers and babies did better on average in countries where midwifery was the norm. A 2009 study led by researchers from the University of British Columbia, found that midwifery care had comparable or better outcomes than physician-led maternity care for low-risk pregnancies. Midwives are primary health care providers and are considered experts in normal pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. They spend considerable time with their clients during prenatal appointments and are with them throughout all stages of maternity care. Midwives support physiologic birth and often report low rates of medical intervention. To learn more about #ABMidwives, visit: http://ow.ly/N61V30rdNRh

TW: loss Posted @withregram @birthstorytherapist Sounds like a lot of pain... Sounds like a lot of despair Sounds like a lot of loneliness Sounds like a lot of unanswered ??? Sounds like a lot of sleepless nights Sounds like a lot of anxiety Sounds like a lot of depression But it also Sounds like a lot of stories waiting to told Sounds like a lot of love Sounds like a lot of support Sounds like a lot of resilience Sounds like a lot of becoming Sounds like a lot of self compassion Sounds like a lot of hope There are so many who experience this immeasurable loss and this month gives us the opportunity to reflect and be presently aware that while devastating-these are unfortunately the facts. If you know a mom or family that’s experienced loss and you have the honor of walking on their journey with them - listen, learn, and be aware of the impact.

#pregnancyandinfantlossawareness This is a grief that knows no bounds. Posted @withregram @rockstarbirthmag Say Their Name... Sending love to all the parents who do not have their baby in their arms tonight. Not every baby goes home. And we need to talk about it. We need to talk about the open-hearted connection and support required by these families as they love, celebrate, and grieve, their baby. Less ‘I’m so sorry for your loss’ (although I know we all are). More talking openly about their baby. Who do they look like? What colour hair do they have? Do they have Dad’s nose? Say their name. Remember their birth date. Remember their importance to their family. Honour death as we honour birth. Vale Jack. And if you would like to share, I’d love to hear about your babe below. Tell me their name. Tell me every beautiful detail about them. ~ Shalome x

After working in front-line social work for the past 6 years, I have made the decision to step back from this intensive work to focus on myself, my family, and my doula work/energy work. I'm super excited for this next chapter in my life and couldn't have taken this leap of faith without the support of a handful of people in my life. I couldn't possibly name you all here, but know that I'm sending you my gratitude <3 I In the coming weeks I will be expanding my offerings to ...include reiki treatment! I am offering reiki service much like my doula work... on the go! wherever you are, I will come to you! Your home, the hospital, your car... reiki isn't picky, it will come when called upon. (I have my own massage table so maybe the car isn't the best option but.. in a pinch, it could be done!) To start out, I will offer the following options: - 15 minute session ... $10 - 45 minute session ... $25 I offer complimentary reiki treatment for all my doula clients as well. Thanks every one See more
