Are you signed up for SPRING ONLINE FITNESS with JMF yet? Yes, I know the weather is nice out and we are moving more outside, which is wonderful!! But muscular conditioning should still be considered a priority for all its aging related benefits- bone density, reduction in arthritis, ease of every day chores, performance and independence. Focusing on your strength training will compliment the walking, running, hiking, cycling, swimming and all the other outdoor spring and su...mmer activities. Walking, running, cycling and swimming are all linear movements- meaning forward and backward- but in real life we are moving laterally (side to side), up and down, twisting in rotation and linear, and combinations of all movements at once sometimes! That’s why Muscle Plus is designed with training for all of the movements we need for every day life. If we only train in the linear motion then when we have to lift kids or groceries or lumber into a vehicle that requires bending, twisting, pulling and pushing we could easily get into some trouble. What about chores like raking, gardening, farm chores etc... think of all those dynamic movements! So you see how walking alone, or cycling alone doesn’t train you for those activities? Do you understand what I’m saying? Joints need load from all directions to be properly trained to function for stability and load. We take care of this training twice a week with Muscle Plus and then we can use the rest of the time to do those outdoor activities we all love! Are you ready to join me? I have said this before, and I’ll say it again.... and maybe I haven’t been doing a very good job on the education part of health but I’ll try to do better... F...riends, we have so much power and control over our own health with diet, exercise, stress reduction strategies and sleep schedules yet we wait until something goes wrong before we take action for our health- and THIS is what’s overloading our health care system (let’s call it our sick care system) I left a job as a pharmacy technician of 10 years because it made me so sad every day working with sick people when much of the illness I was seeing could be prevented and improved with health CARE strategies like fitness, nutrition, mental health coaching etc. Less than 20% of adults meet the recommended weekly exercises requirements for health. That means 80% EIGHTY PERCENT DO NOT!!! And we wonder why there is a burden on our health care system? 1 in 3 adults age 45-85 are given a doctor recommendation to exercise, 85+ the recommendation doubled. So if the doctor prescribes a blood pressure pill- you fill it and swallow it every day- why are you not filling your exercise prescription? It doesn’t cost the medical system hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. And you will feel better, not have to see your doctor as much and decrease your chance of dying prematurely due to health complications such as heart disease, diabetes, cancers etc. Does this matter to you? It should! Why wait until your sick to do something about your health?? Exercise & nutrition are our front line defences. Don’t tell me you don’t have time or energy- if living a healthy, good, disease free life is important to you, you will make time. And exercise gives energy back- I can 100% vouch for that. So will you continue to be the 80% of the population not taking care of yourself and straining our health care system? Or will you help me change this statistic? I know the powerful healing medicine of movement and nutrition- and it doesn’t have to be hard or boring. We all have a responsibility for our existence and the impact of our lives on others and the world. Booking your outdoor exercise appointments is easy. We use the SCHEDULICITY booking system which is available on the web or you can download the schedulicity app from the google play store or Apple App Store. I must emphasize that visiting Just Movement Fitness is by appointment only and pre booking is required. There are only 4 spots available for each appointment slot, so when you book the appointment- treat it as you would an important appointment and show up. Booking to... hold your spot and cancelling last minute is not only unfair to other clients and myself, but it’s disrespectful to the small business that is trying to survive during this time and limited to how they can operate. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be expected to honour the payment unless I am able to fill the booking with another client. Thank you for your understanding and also your cooperation with this matter. I may add or change classes on the schedulicity calendar, so please check back regularly! Essential workers come to me for their mental health. Fitness is essential for all of us to keep our bodies and minds well... especially during this time. I am fortunate to have a location to be able to take my clients outdoors and we will continue to do so- but for my fellow gym owners in larger populations these rules need to be addressed. Private one-on-one training CAN be made safe with social distance and sanitizing protocols and it would be better controlled than your ...big box stores that are open for essential items only. Our businesses are for the health and wellness of our community and our work actually does lessen the load on the medical system by keeping people from having mental break downs, keeping people healthy so they stay out of the hospitals etc. So for JMF, we will continue to book outdoor exercise appointments for mental health. During the lockdown JMF is offering online fitness as well as safe OUTDOOR FITNESS sessions. Currently all of the outdoor sessions are evening slots with the exception of Saturday morning. Would anyone be interested in a lunch time or late morning (10/10:30/11am) outdoor session? Please comment below if you would attend an outdoor session and what times work best for you. Outdoor sessions are limited to 4 people.... Outdoor sessions include benefits of fresh air, open space, sunshine and laughter (wait, is that permitted??!!) Fitness is not permitted What is permitted? Social outdoor gatherings of 5 people Recreational parks ... And exercise is recommended for mental health... So I will not be offering outdoor fitness classes during the lock down... but I will social gather with a safe distance outdoors at my personal recreational park known as my yard with 4 other people that wish to play follow the leader or Simon says for some mental health supporting exercise Does anyone else see the problem here? And for the record, I’m not trying to cause any problems or be a rebel or anything... im doing my best to be respectful and I’m also trying to keep people and myself healthy and well and survive this joke of a lockdown.... Thank you for supporting small business and those people that are being crushed by these unfair and unjustified rules that make absolutely no sense!

Gentle, medium and high intensity movement. Even if you only do 2 workouts in the month, your support could mean survival over defeat. Book mindset life coaching appointments with me. Buy a month of online training for your friend or family member. Sponsor a stranger to allow them access to awesome movement content. Take an outdoor class with me. Purchase a personal training program. Share posts. Like posts. Tell your friends. Forward emails. Stand up for your rights. Keep moving to stay healthy and well during this time, mentally and physically. Support small businesses that are trying to shift how they run their business to accommodate your needs and also survive this shit! Send encouraging texts, emails, phone calls. PRAY!!! The more lockdowns we have the less likely it is that you will see your favourite small business at the end if you don’t support them during the lockdowns mentally, emotionally, physically and financially we are struggling. While Amazon and Walmart see a 30% increase in profits over the last year If you can afford to support a small business right now- please please please do it! Order curbside pick up. Buy local even if it’s extra dollars than amazon or beach body or whatever big box company is offering. Get take out from your favourite restaurants. See if your salon will sell you the hair dye so you can do it yourself. Again, I thank you for the support, love, encouragement and memberships. Monday January 11 6:15pm MIX FIT- Circuit: we will complete 4 rounds of 5 exercises to target cardio, lower body strength, upper body strength, cardio again and core. Weights and Mat recommended. Tuesday January 12 7:30am MUSCLE PLUS - day 1: progressive strength conditioning program- recommended to participate in full program 2 days per week for best results. Weights and mat recommended. 8:30 LAF LITE FIT MIX- 1 minute rounds: moderate intensity strength and cardio exercises. Weights and mat recommended. Thursday January 14 7:30am MUSCLE PLUS- day 2: progressive strength conditioning program (see above explaination) weights, chair and mat recommended. 8:30am GENTLE YOGA STRETCH- focusing on gentle relaxing movement and stretches for the hips and low back. Well, the end to a chapter, but not to the story! We finished closing the minden studio today, our home for the last 18 years. So many memories were made here! Sweat, laughter, tears, the odd swear word and even some blood! Every client that walked through that door has a special place in my heart and Im thankful that some of you will continue to make new memories with me in our new space when it’s complete. I won’t miss those freaking stairs!! Nope, not after the last mon...th of moving hundreds of thousands of pounds of equipment out of there! But I do have to say that the space looked WAY cooler with JMF logos! Today was hard. But it’s okay. We can do hard things! Special thanks to my dad and Cebastian for all their help!
