Quite a few new friends in my followers list recently, so I thought now would be a good time to do a little re-introduction! My name is Justyne, I was born and raised in the small town of Uxbridge, and actually, I’m still here! In 2020, just as the covid pandemic hit, I graduated from the Media Production program at Ryerson University. I had a couple of month of limbo before finding a positing as a journalist with a local newspaper, which I’ve been reporting for now for jus...t over a year! I also work as a communications manager for multiple medical clinics and the North Durham Covid Assessment Centre. I’ve become a bit of a virus expert and health reporter this year and while it can sometimes be overwhelming, I love that my job helps to inform people to keep them and their families safe. Last summer I really started digging into my photography business. I started focusing my energy on marketing and ended up having the busiest 6 months in my photography career! Now that lockdowns have been more prevalent I’ve hit a bit of a lull, but I’m hopeful for a strong return! I specialize in portraits and weddings. Some of my favourite sessions are couples sessions, when I can capture are the fun, flirty, romantic and lovey moments. My photography style is authentic, lifestyle, portraiture. I like using prompts with my clients instead of poses. Incorporating movement into my sessions not only make more real looking photos but also helps to relax my clients in front of the camera. When I edit, I like to use lots of warm tones and and light and bright colours. If you’re interested in booking a session, send me a note! One thing I LOVE about my job, is the people I get to see and meet and collaborate with. And last nights session with Bailey and Abby, co-owners of @herbotanica_ , certainly proved that, and has been added to my most fun sessions list I went to high school with Abby, but probably hadn’t actually seen her since I graduated in 2015. Within 5 minutes or reconnecting, we were in stitches laughing and joking and having a total ball! My path crossed with Bailey last fall when I... found her gorgeous events barn which I used as a photo location for my fall minis. And being the small town that Uxbridge is, it turned out that we actually had mutual friends! Flash a little forward... Abby and Bailey now have partnered together to share their love of plants and natural wellness. They created Herbotanica, an all natural health and beauty company, with the most magical smelling products So, here are a few shots of these gorgeous ladies in their gorgeous greenhouse Their website launches, fittingly, on Earth Day! I love when couples start a session and say to me we’re really not good in front of the camera or you’re gunna have to tell us what to do. My usual response is I promise it’s easier than you think, you guys will be great. But seriously, these two! When I tell you they were naturals, they were honestly NATURALS! After a bit of prompting in the beginning, by the end of the session they were coming up with their own poses and photo ideas! So when I tell you not to be nervous about a photo sessions, I’m not just saying it! The more you relax and have fun with it the more authentic to you we can get the photos

And for all the coldest days, and all the darkest nights, you are all the warmth I need This yin and yang pose is honestly one of my favourites For some reason, the angle from above feels so much more like an outside eye,Iike their moment is so intimate and pure and I, as the photographer, just happened to catch a shot of their little world. I bet that for some people, the way a photographer explains their works seems a little far fetched and dramatic. If that’s you, I challenge you to have photos taken of you and someone you love. My guess is, once you see that frozen, digitized connection, you’ll know what we’re talking about.

A little dreamy sunset magic from yesterday evening If you know me, you’ll know how much I hate to be cold. I find so much comfort and calm in warmth and I think I’ve tried to translate that into my edits. This session was absolutely bone chilling, but I felt so warm inside capturing all of Elise and Devin’s love and light. It was such a joy (and making horsey friends is always an extra plus )... Lots of quick posing changes and active prompts to keep us warm, and the snuggly blanket photos were a saviour! I am so in love with the photos from this session How stunning are these two?! Jenna was the winner of my Valentine’s giveaway and this session did not disappoint on bringing the love! These two goofy lovebirds were convinced that they weren’t photogenic but I wholeheartedly beg to differ! ... I love couple’s sessions, like LOOOVE them! And love them even more when the couple isn’t afraid to be fully authentic and spontaneous. Wet bums and cold backs are so worth it for the extra fun rolling in the snow shots

Starting to get used to this winter walks thing If you know me, you’ll know how much I hate being cold. Like sit with a hair dryer as a personal heater kind of hate being cold. But, over the past few weeks I’ve decided I quite like winter walks (as long as it’s not TOO cold...). Especially on days like today, when it’s sunny and there’s no wind, heading out on the trails is a great way to get a bit of fresh air and to get the blood pumping!
