I hope everyone had a terrific holiday. Please eat up, relax and enjoy the break, and don't worry about the temporary effects of over indulging. Classes resume on Tuesday January 6 and we will be diving right into a six month program of conditioning and weight control in preparation for a couple of events in the spring: 1. Master Lee black belt exam... 2. Tournament in Saint John 3. For those who are interested in another training goal, JVK Taekwondo will be promoting participation in a Mud, Sweat and Tears event. JVK Taekwondo will be offering another Women’s Self-Defence course beginning Wednesday, August 14, 2019. The course will be offered in three 11/2 hour evening sessions from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm on August 14, 21, and 28. You do not need any martial arts experience or be ‘in shape ‘ to take this course. This is a practical self-defence course that anyone can benefit from and is ideal for ladies going to university or college. It is not a workout class! This is a reminder that JVK will be starting it’s Women’s Self-Defence course this Saturday morning, February 2. Orientation is at 8:00 am with the first class starting at 8:30. This course is open to ladies ages 13 and up and is perfect for Mothers and daughters, university students, or those planning on travelling. It does not require any martial arts background or advanced physical fitness. Don’t be intimidated by the concept. It is a friendly, safe, and encouraging environment. JVK Taekwondo to Offer Women’s Self-Defence Program Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were faced with someone intent on harming you or someone you cared about? If so, please attend JVK Taekwondo’s pre-registration session for our Women’s Self-Defence program starting on Saturday, February 2, 2019. This program provides simple but practical self-defence techniques for almost any fitness level, and you do not need to have a martial arts background or be in great s...hape to participate. The program will be initially delivered through four one-hour sessions on Saturdays in February (2, 9, 16, and 23), from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., with the pre-registration information session taking place from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. on February 2, 2019. The Women’s Self-Defence program is open to ladies ages 13 years and older, and the cost is $50 (HST included), with additional family members paying only $30 each. The only equipment needed is gym apparel (full or three-quarter length sweat pants, track pants, or underarm our-style pants, a strong t-shirt or full-length shirt), a towel, and a water bottle. Gym shoes will not be required as you will be in socks or bare feet. Please note that this is not a cardio-kick boxing, booty boot camp, or other form of martial arts work out program. This is a ``no BS``, tell it like it is applied self-defence program that teaches you how to improve your odds against an attacker. It is a safe and encouraging environment where you can expect to be treated with the utmost respect; however, you will be working with partners and instructors (at your request only) and there will be physical contact (e.g., grabbing wrists or shirts). If there is enough interest this program it will be considered for continuance in the following months, so please spread the word!
