Hey, Ward 3! The City’s Annual Spring Clean-up Program is set to begin next week. Below, you will find the street sweeping schedule for our communities. City Crews will only be sweeping Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm, and not on statutory holidays. Any delays due to weather, equipment or other issues will be rescheduled to be completed at the end of the clean-up program. Once a sweeper has completed your street, you are able to park on the street immediately after.... However, please keep in mind that sweepers typically pass three times on each side of the roadway. The City will still be putting up community signs at least 24 hours in advance of sweeping dates. You can also visit the website attached to view the most up-to-date street sweeping schedule based on your address and have the option to receive text/email alerts for when your street is scheduled for sweeping. https://www.calgary.ca//spring-clean-up-street-cleaning.ht

Earlier today Jyoti challenged Jeromy Farkas to a debate. It appears that Darren Krause of LiveWire Calgary may be interested in hosting the debate. So two things: first, follow LiveWire Calgary on Facebook; and second subscribe to LiveWire. They have all the candidates in the civic election profiled and Darren and his team are doing an amazing job covering the goings-on at the City of Calgary. Today though, we want a debate. Facebook Live seems to be the place to host this.... Please like or share this post if you want to see a debate between Jeromy and Jyoti on the key issues of this election.

"Today I was able to join Rob Breakenridge on QR 770 to chat about the event centre and other issues impacting Calgarians. As always, I appreciated the questions asked by Rob and the interaction with Calgarians. What made this show weird was that 15 minutes before I was on, Jeromy Farkas was interviewed. What he said and what I said were obviously very different. It appears we have very different reasons and rationale for our actions. It also appears we have a very differen...t vision for what Calgary could look like in the future. I don’t particularly care for this separate interview concept. I want Calgarians to directly compare our vision and ideas. So, Jeromy, let’s debate. Call it a townhall, call it a question and answer, call it a debate, call it whatever you want but let’s do this." - Jyoti Gondek

The event centre is in the news today, and I am unable to comment on the specifics of the situation because I have a responsibility to protect taxpayers and our third-party partners. I will, however, outline how my values will influence my thinking process and actions. We have a deal. In July 2019, the majority of council decided that our city would be better served by having an arena and event centre to carry us into the future. The deal before us is the one we approved af...ter much deliberation. It is still the right deal. Our team at the City and CMLC have worked tirelessly to get this right for the citizens of Calgary. The deal we approved in 2019 is in effect and I am prepared to abide by it. - Jyoti Gondek

Check out vaccination phasing. Firefighters and teachers not identified in any phases. Yet, 1 in 5 schools in Alberta have outbreaks, including 28 Calgary schools. There are 6,300 kids in isolation (including mine). Not enough firefighters for shifts because they’re isolating or infected. I’m at a loss for why firefighters are not part of Phase 2C (https://www.alberta.ca//covid19-vaccine-phase-2C-eligibili) as they attend countless medical calls daily, in all of the settin...gs listed. Their role as medical responders is being ignored. They must be prioritized. Vaccinate firefighters. On to teachers and school staff - they’re in the hot spots of outbreaks every day, with daily increases in variants. How can they not be considered a priority? How can we keep denying that schools are sources of spread? Vaccinate teachers and school staff. I’m increasingly concerned that we’re not vaccinating those who are in harm’s way through their professions. And while we aren’t getting any better at this, variants are making things more dangerous. Asking the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta - please add firefighters/educators/school staff into Phase 2C! - Jyoti Gondek

Hi, Ward 3! Mattamy Homes has reached out to the Ward 3 office to inform us that they are continuing development of Carrington North of 144th Ave. As a condition of approval for Carrington Phases 6 & 7, Mattamy is required to construct the ultimate east two lanes of 14th Street NW up to 148th Ave NW, along with all the boulevard landscaping. In order to complete the improvements, the existing 14th Street gravel road will be closed from April 12th to July 1st 2021. This is a needed infrastructure investment and once built these lanes will facilitate interconnectivity between our Northern communities.

The new virtual campaign model brings the candidate into your living room. Ask Jyoti anything, or sit back and hear her story. A coffee party is your chance to meet Jyoti and learn about her accomplishments and vision for Calgary's future. All it takes is completing our form at jyotigondek.ca/coffee-party and then committing to having 8 to 20 friends, colleagues, or neighbours. We are currently booking three weeks out. So lots of time to select a date and then invite a collec...tion of people you know who would appreciate the opportunity to learn more. Co-Host a coffee party with Jyoti today. #jyoti4mayor #yyc #yyccc

Prince Philip will long be remembered for his commitment to public service. Many charities and non-government organizations have been created and shaped by his involvement. While we may all feel this loss, my thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and members of the Royal Family.
