These poor beautiful turkeys have put their survivability to the test lately . Terrible rainy weather for a solid week . Incredible juvenile eagles and turkey vulture pressence. And now we had a coyote breach . It’s been almost a decade since our last coyote breach. I am sorry for all they have been through. At least now the weather is getting better for them.

Good morning. Today is our first fresh pick up day of the season. Things are a little different as you can imagine. Only two people will be allowed into the farm store at a time. Please watch for the floor stickers that are keeping you properly social distanced. We are open 9 am to 5 pm today.

Have you met the ‘K’ behind K & M Farms ? This is my mother Kathy. She is a businesswoman, retired outdoor Kindergarten teacher, grandmother, mother, sister, friend... I could go on... she also makes sure the place ‘looks great’ which is not high on my priority list. I am thankful she puts her never ending energy into the business and the family. We would be lost without her.

Hello first pasture raised flock of the season ! We are so excited to have birds on the pastures . These guys are loving the mild weather and even a little rain isn’t too bad for them as all the worms come out after a rain and they sure know it !!! Check out our new predator snow fencing . We put this green snow fencing in front of the shelters to mess with the large predators’ flight pattern.

Farm update: thank you to all our customers for supporting the farm during this time. We continue to invite customers to our farm store by appointment only so we can keep it to one person in the store at a time. After a customer leaves we disinfect the door handle, the debit / credit machine and the counter top. We are currently sold out of chicken drumsticks, thighs, feet and hearts. Have you ever seen a turkey sleeping ? They tuck their heads into one side of their wings. Looks funny from a distance as they seem headless.

I love turkeys . They are big and awkward at times but also absolutely beautiful.

Had a runty chicken so I roasted it whole, ate some, and then threw the whole thing in to boil. Usually I only make soup with the carcasses. The soup was awesome using basically the whole bird !

Kathy, Mark and Jill were very happy to host the UBCM 2019 tour on the farm this past Monday. The questions and conversations were interesting and engaging. Thank you to Minister Popham for coming to see the farm and helping answer some of those engaging questions. We are very proud of our farms’ evolution over the past 18 years and we look forward to what’s to come for the next 18 years :)

My apologies I cannot change this event page as it was created by BC Farm Fresh but just so everyone knows there are no open house activities on Friday September 20th. We do have fresh chicken sales from 2 pm to 6 pm on Friday but we encourage everyone to come on Saturday the 21st. On Saturday there will be hay wagon farm tours, product sampling, chef Adrian’s food truck featuring our products, face painting, chick cuddling, petting zoo and more. None of the above listed activities are available on Friday September 20th.

Chef Adrian Beaty - Food from the Farm, has picked up fresh product and is getting ready for this Saturdays’ open house on the farm. He is bringing his new Canned Ham Canteen Food truck. Come hungry and get some new ideas on how to use our farm products.

My friend Kendall at Central Park Farms came to visit me the other day. I am so thankful to have a community of farmers I call friends. If I could I would spend all my time with my fellow farmers. The knowledge and support we share with each other is what keeps me going most days. The head nods and other forms of understanding are instrumental to keeping me going in hard times.

Getting pumped for this weekends’ open house on Saturday September 21st. We will have chef Adrian preparing delicious food in his canned ham canteen trailer. Lisa from Rainbow faces doing her amazing face painting. Farm tours on our hay wagon. Baby chicken cuddling station. Product sampling and selling in the farm store. And our wonderful neighbour is bringing her animals for the petting zoo. What a wonderful way to showcase our products and get you thinking about different ways to prepare it all. Check it out ! Our second fresh pick up of the season is this weekend July 19th and 20th. We are open friday the 19th noon to 6 pm and saturday July 20th 8am to 5pm. Orders have been flying in and we are currently sold out of Thighs and Hearts. We still have whole birds, breasts, drums, wings, livers, feet, necks and soup bones available.

The turkeys are loving these old trees we are cutting down. These old trees are perfect predator perches. We are cutting them down to limit their ability to be comfortable around our birds.
