I wanna throw out an idea here. I would love to get more people involved with fishing, especially women and kids. So here’s what I want to do to get it starte...d. I don’t do much guiding in the winter, but have people asking me all the time. I’m going to do a draw to offer up a full day guided lake trout ice fishing trip to a kid/family who doesn’t get to go (for any number of reasons that aren’t my business). So ya, here it is, and please you can share it all over the place to get a deserving kid a nice Xmas present as well. The trip will include all necessary fishing gear, as well as transportation by snowmobile or ATV (ice conditions dictate, due to safety), and warm portable Clam huts. I could take up to 2 adults and 2 kids under 16 for this one. Ok folks, seems like this is really gaining legs here!!! I’ll add to the post that to enter I just ask that people tell me who is to be entered (one per household and I’ll start a running total in this post), and a little bit about their passion for fishing. I’ll do the draw live on Facebook, hopefully Christmas Day, and then we just have to wait for the hard water!!!! I’ll add as well, this trip will either be on Lakes Joe/Rosseau, or Parry Sound, depending on weather and ice conditions. So let’s get some kids’ names on this list!! So now I gotta figure out how to get the word out, and get it going. I’d like to do the draw on Christmas Eve as well so I can contact the lucky kid who wins. Thanks folks, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! We had a visitor today! Justin Girard from justin_girard_fishing stopped by with the proceeds from the Spring Whitey Open, a fishing tournament on Lake Si...mcoe this past May. Congratulations on a successful first tournament! We hope everyone had a great time. **I’m not sure if we included it in our ice checking clips this morning, but be advised that we checked areas in Kempenfelt Bay (well off shore) with less than ...5 inches of ice** There’s a report posted last night to the tune of there’s six inches on the lake trout and whitefish areas, game on, which is completely not an accurate representation of thickness in any meaningful, UNIFORM way. Snow covered zones are very thin right beside areas of 7+ inches. There are also active, moving cracks in places.
