Hello Everyone, Osteopathic clinics remain open during this recent lockdown of Toronto and Peel Region. However, it is important that we are involved in advocating for our health and ensure that Osteopathy is seen as an essential service. Please take a moment to complete this survey on how Osteopathy has helped you. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey - it is of benefit to my profession and I am appreciative of your support so I can continue to be of ser...vice to you & your health. https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSfiz1zS5wYxPwFpyW/viewform
Ever wonder how Osteopathy can help you?
With the change of season (and weather), now is the time to put your health first. Osteopathy should be high on your list for self-care. We help your body boost its health by improving blood flow and removing structural restrictions. Now is the perfect time to start your self-care routine.
Is mask-wearing getting you down? Make it a bit better by putting a drop or two of your favourite essential oil on the inside of your mask. My personal favourite is Thieves. Thieves helped keep me healthy through school when people around me were sick. Learn more about Thieves (https://marseillesremedy.com/about-us/) Made in Canada ... Note - please ensure that before you use essential oils of any kind, you understand any potential health considerations. For example - With Thieves, due to the Rosemary content, avoid use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive areas.
Effective Monday, September 21, 2020, HST will be charged on all Osteopathic treatments due to a change in status by the Canada Revenue Agency. https://www.canada.ca//news108-excise-gst-hst-news-no-108-

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE The Government of Ontario has given healthcare practitioners permission to gradually reopen. You can book your appointment at www.kabm.com Starting July 7, 2020, we will be offering treatments based on individual levels of comfort. ... The following changes have been implemented for patient & practitioner safety: 1. A screening protocol will be sent 3 hours prior to your appointment. Please complete it before you arrive. If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, please contact me & do not come to your appointment. In this case, there is no penalty for late cancellations. 2. Please don’t arrive more than five minutes prior to the start of your appointment and please wait in your car until it is your time. Park in the lot behind the building and walk up the driveway to the entrance between the buildings (follow the signage). I will meet patients at the entrance and will be opening all doors for patients to decrease contact spots. 3. Hand sanitizing is mandatory upon entry. 4. Face masks are required. I ask if you have a mask, please arrive wearing it. I do have some disposable masks if needed. 5. Strict cleaning measures are in place between all treatments. The washroom is not available for use, except for emergencies. 6. Please wear comfortable but non-restrictive clothing. No tank tops or bare feet please. 7. Preferred methods of payment are e-Transfer, Credit, Debit. Thank you for your patience during this re-opening stage.
Happy Birthday Osteopathy!

Think manual osteopathy should be classified an essential service? Have your say now: http://ostcan.ca/survey
As per the new COVID-19 restrictions, we are closed for 2 weeks, hopeful to reopen on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Social distancing is key, self-isolate if you need to, but get lots of rest and stay safe & healthy. See you soon!
As common sense seems to have gone out the window with COVID-19. It's important to know the facts. Here in Ontario, the Ministry of Health has a dedicated COVID-19 website (updated twice a day). As a practitioner, I disinfect my table, pillows, chair arms & door knobs after each patient. I have masks available as well. Treatment can assist with fluid flow to allow the body to fight a flu or cold. That said, you've heard it many times, self-quarantine is always your choi...ce, please use "common sense". https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus
Without a doubt!
As my final month of school winds down, I'm glad I chose the only Type 1 Osteopathic School in Canada.
Hence, why we "Reason from the effect to the cause, which in many cases, is unseen. He should never dally with effects but ever go back to the cause which when corrected results in a disappearance of the effect." Dr. A.T. Still, Osteopathy, Research & Practice

Are you putting ice on injuries and sore muscles? Stop! You are not helping your body heal. In 1978, Dr. Gabe Mirkin introduced "RICE", which is a mnemonic acronym for four elements of treatment for soft tissue injuries: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. In 2014 he wrote, "Coaches have used my 'RICE' guideline for decades, but now it appears that both Ice and complete Rest may delay healing, instead of helping. In a recent study, athletes were told to exercise so inten...sely that they developed severe muscle damage that caused extensive muscle soreness. Although cooling delayed swelling, it did not hasten recovery from this muscle damage." https://www.menshealth.com/f/a29710918/icing-sore-muscles/
What does stretching and flexibility mean to you? This article gives a different perspective on stretching, and you may not need to "stretch". https://dancemagazine.com.au//why-the-australian-ballet-/
Truth! Osteopathy is not "techniques", it's principles based with the patient's anatomy directing the treatment. As the operator, it's my job to think it through, apply principles and collective mechanics to address the cause, which changes the effect the patient experiences. Treatment is therefore different each appointment as the body is a dynamic unit of function, always moving towards health. It's also different person to person...
