In 2018, 162 individuals lost their lives due to workplace injury or illness in Alberta. These individuals were mothers, brothers, fathers, sisters,aunts, uncles, and friends. They were people. They went to work just like any other day and did not return. Sunday, April 28, was Canadas national Day of Mourning. The National Day of Mourning is not only a day to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy, but also a day to renew the commitment t...o improve health and safety in the workplace and prevent further injuries, illnesses and deaths.
