*St. Lawrence Market COVID-19 Update* St. Lawrence Market continues to be open to the public for food access during the COVID-19 situation. For Saturday, March ...21 the following additional actions have been put in place to ensure the wellbeing of our customers, merchants, farmers, vendors and staff: On Saturday, March 21, 2020 the Market will be centralizing access point to manage customer traffic at the South (main) Market and the Saturday Farmers Market at 125 The Esplanade. South Market customers will be directed to use the following three entrances only: Main automatic doors on Front Street East Market Street, north entrance closest to Front Street East Jarvis Street entrance Farmers Market customers will be directed to use the Market Street entrance only. To encourage social distancing the Market will be limiting the number of customers inside the building at this time. Customers are encouraged to keep social distance from each other, merchants and staff when at the Market. Social distancing means keeping 2 metres apart from others. St. Lawrence Market continues to work with food rescue partner Second Harvest and encourages merchants, farmers and vendors to continue to provide unsold food products to Second Harvest pickup volunteers. The St. Lawrence Market and Second Harvest have a long history of partnership in food rescue. Second Harvest has been picking up food that would otherwise go to waste from vendors at the Market since the charity's inception in 1985. The St. Lawrence Market is a public food market that provides fresh and prepared foods to local residents. Since 1803 the Market has been a community anchor offering essential service to the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood and Toronto overall. The Market believes in the importance of local food systems and is committed to remaining open to provide food access. The Market continues to be open to the public for regular hours of operation. South Market (main Market at 91-95 Front Street East): Tuesdays to Thursdays: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays and Mondays: closed Saturday Farmers Market: 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Sunday Antique Market is temporarily closed until further notice. Actions taken by St. Lawrence Market: St. Lawrence Market merchants, farmers and vendors will have the option to reduce their hours of operation. The Market will be open for core hours of operation the following dates and times: South (main) Market (91-95 Front Street East) Tuesdays to Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and Mondays: closed Core hours for the Saturday Farmers Market will be established by this weekend. St. Lawrence Market merchants, farmers and vendors will have the option to close their store or stall. Those that are closed will have signage posted on site. The Market will make best efforts to have a list of stores or stalls with reduced hours or any closed stores or stalls available on stlawrencemarket.com. Entrances into St. Lawrence Market may be limited during expected peak times, if required, such as Saturdays, in order to manage the number of customers. To encourage social distancing St. Lawrence Market is working with tour operators and tourism partners to ensure that no tours or tourism related activities are currently happening in St. Lawrence Market. St. Lawrence Market strongly encourages those who intent to visit St. Lawrence Market for tourism purposes not to visit at this time. All seating areas in the Market have been removed until further notice. This includes all tables, chairs, benches, etc. Additional hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed in public access areas of the Market, such as entrances, washrooms and seating areas. The frequency of disinfecting and cleaning heavily touched surfaces in the Market has increased and is being regularly monitored by all staff. These areas include door handles, handrails, elevators, tables, chairs and more. Staff are emptying garbage receptacles in public areas more frequently. Washrooms are being maintained more often. The supply of soap and sanitizing solution in staff and public areas is being regularly monitored. Actions recommended for St. Lawrence Market merchants: Take orders in advance and offer to walk out orders to vehicles for customers if requested. Prepared food establishments in the Market will serve food for takeout only. Pause all self-serve food counters and sampling. Increase the frequency of sanitizing heavily touched areas such as service counters and point-of-sale systems. Be vigilant in following handwashing protocol, including washing hands often, with soap and water, and using alcohol-based hand sanitizer. St. Lawrence Market Hours of Operation Pilot Project Postponement & Update on COVID-19 In collaboration with our colleagues at Toronto Public Health and other ...City partners, the St. Lawrence Market is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. While further risk assessments regarding public gatherings is being undertaken, as advised by the Medical Officer of Heath, the Market has decided to exercise an abundance of caution and postpone the launch of the new Hours of Operation Pilot Project and all related activities and events. A change in hours will be deferred to a later date and launch events will be rescheduled. The St. Lawrence Market continues to be open to the public for the current hours of operation.
