Kal Classic Alumni - These are the paddlers who gathered together to start it all. Roots! The entire group paddled on their trusty all-rounders except for Beau Whitehead of Bellingham who won the men's division on a strange pointy board.
Welcome to the wild, wet world of Wikiholo! Here are the preliminary heats for Saturday (*subject to change). If you are not on the list, that means you are only registered for Rail Trail Rec Challenge or Kalamalka Crossing. Take a look!
The answer is - We just don't know yet. With so many events being cancelled or postponed we just wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know how we are navigating the new normal. The Kal Classic is currently scheduled for August 22 & 23rd but we will for sure be changing that to a one-day event - either the Saturday or Sunday.... The first challenge is the waiting game to see if our local and provincial governments will approve a permit for any event. The second is the re-organization of how we would run the Kalamalka Crossing to follow the new guidelines for social spacing, sanitization and so forth. The third is our ongoing desire to offer a quality experience for everyone rather than just rushing everyone on and off the lake. The Kal Classic is meant to be a yearly gathering, not a 'get in and get out' event. That is likely the sentiment for many organizers as they feel their events could feel rushed. Plus, there will no spectators in the stands... We will be ready for action and leave it floating out there until we have enough information available to safely make a decision. We are not comfortable setting a decision date yet so that ends up being our super vague answer. All we ask from you is stay flexible, keep paddling and send out good vibes. Love and Peace from the Kal Classic crew.
