When the current layout of the home doesn't work you -change it. There is nothing noble about living in a home that frustrates you or doesn't give you what you need. . 2020 taught us that change is inevitable. It also made it glaringly obvious that home is the most important place. . So make it work for you. There is value in smartly realigning a space to meet your current and future needs. It's not about square footage. It's about maximizing what is there. ... . You'd be surprised! See more

Keeping it simple for a girl's bathroom. . It's an ensuite bathroom for a young adult studying at university. It's the 2nd bathroom we are designing for this client. The last one she shared with her brother. This one is all her own. And is it ever ............... girly. . Although a girly girl bathroom it will remain fresh and current for years to come.... . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact See more

Although beautiful, 3D images aren't always as effective as you might think. The client may still not visualize how the pendant lights will come across the island. . You then need to pull out the big guns. To scale cutouts, 2 sizes, of the pendant lights and place them on the floor exactly how they would come across the island. . Service beyond the norm.... . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact See more

Last year, I promised my sister we would build a gingerbread house. Life got in the way and we didn't do it. This year, my sister was proactive, and bought a gingerbread house kit ahead of time. . By the time, I got there a few weekends ago, she had it ready to go. There was no stopping us this year. . I present to you - Effort #1

The all white bathroom with a shaker panel vanity is perhaps the most versatile design concept you can implement. Add woven baskets for a country/rustic look, Add metal accents for a contemporary look. This bathroom soaks up the ambiance from the accessories and reflects back the look you're going for. . For this client, we've gone a little more feminine with the curved shower head and lighted mirrors. It's charming and simply designed. . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact

Before the days of Covid-19, it was easy to walk into a supplier and spend a lot of time simply browsing or snapping images for inspiration. . I snapped this image a year ago. Although, I cull my images quite often, this one continuously misses the cut. The tub surround is timeless and serene. It sure as heck beats the 12x12 tile surround of years past. . Patience has paid off. The time has come to do something similar with wood pattern tile. Can you say - excited ... . Are you contemplating a bathroom renovation this year? Don't get stuck on a look that may have your bathroom looking just as old as before. www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact CIOT on Vega Street, Mississauga

Sometimes, an existing space just simply doesn't work. More often than not, it's an inefficient use of space. If renovating, it's time to adjust and make it work for you. No sense in living in chaos and dust for weeks or months only to end up with the same ineffective space. . More often than not, you can find multiple solutions. The best one will meet all your needs and then some. Don't be afraid to borrow from closets, close off niches, push back walls or even realign them.... . I tiny corner closet which barely accommodates anything isn't valuable real estate. Closing it off to make it part of something bigger or more functional - now it's worth it's weight in gold. . Trying to figure out a more functional layout to your home, we'd love to be on your renovating team. . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact See more

We're keeping it simple. The client and I both love the simplicity of a subway tile, but this bathroom called for a little more. A little 'je ne sais quoi'. . In comes the tear drop tile. Followed by a porcelain slab that looks an awful lot like marble. . Pssstttt......some of these marble looking porcelain tiles have come a long way. If you love the look of marble, but hate the maintenance, there is a vast selection out there. Be vigilant though because some of them do loo...k fake. . If you're planning a home improvement project this year, we'd love to be on your team. . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact See more

The blooper to end all bloopers! . In a preliminary design concept - no door to the room. "How do you enter the room - via the closet?" asked the client. Thankfully, client has a sense of humour and this is the 3rd collaboration in 6 years. . I can solemnly promise the final floor plan has a door to the room. Client approved.

The finishing touch in a room is not always the wall colour or the 'just right' accessory. It's sometimes the lighting. It can add impact or be the finishing touch that pulls the overall design together.

While sourcing for tiles I come across this beauty. Floor to ceiling glass for a fabulous wall in the bathroom or any other room in the house. Perfect for the grout-line phobes.

Not going to lie - the layout is identical to the existing bathroom. In fact, we are re-using the existing jet tub. So why the drawing? Size. Here it does matters. Too big and it won't fit, Too small and we will leave room on the table. The star of this bathroom? The tile.

Client has requested an industrial-style bathroom. This vanity will be a tad out of place in the redesigned bathroom. It's time to get creative. Most 6'-0" ready made vanities are usually double-bowled. On the off chance, they have a single owl it's usually in the middle. These options won't work. We're keeping the box. New wood grain flat panel doors and drawers. A new countertop and a vessel top. We considered a custom piece, but the investment dollars would be better serv...ed on another line item in the scope of work. Are you planning a home improvement project this year? Let's get talking and see how we can stretch your investment dollars. www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact

A bigger house isn't always the solution. Sometimes, it's looking at the existing layout and having the courage to reconfigure the affected areas. Our client bought this house, unfortunately, the existing closet space is far too small. The design concept calls for a reconfigured master en-suite to include a walk in shower. In turn, the existing shower and bedroom niche space will be part of the walk in closet. Are we losing anything by incorporating the existing shower space into the master closet? Absolutely not! In fact, it's a much more functional layout for the bathroom.

It was a kitchen kind of day. Talking options and requirements for our client's new kitchen. Did you know that placing a kitchen order now will get you a November install? Ya - it will take that long! For now, let's marvel at this multilevel island. Designed to impress and take up some visual space. www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact

Three weeks ago, we signed the contract with our returning client. So far, we've sent the scope of work out for pricing, met with general contractors and working on the bathroom and kitchen layouts with the client. . Nothing pretty here. Just functional lines to mark the space. With 5 equally good master en-suite layouts, the client likes this one the best. We are debating the floating wall. I want the "L" shape, he wants straight across. . We're going to come to a decision next week. Really, really hoping for the "L" shape

Let's get this done. . The construction shoes are out again. Major renovations on an exciting new project in Etobicoke. We're in the design phase - finalizing bathrooms, kitchen, collecting quotes and establishing a budget. . We're in the really really tedious part of the project. The planning and sorting out the minutiae. Reworking some of the layouts and deciding on options. ... . So far, loving what we have on paper. Really excited to see the changes and what he have on paper come to life. . www.kalligeorgeinteriors.com/contact See more

But.did you know that layers applies to home design, as well? We use layering to add dimension, texture, visual interest and a tactile experience. For example, if your dream décor is an all white monochromatic room with all cotton fabrics, polished white ceramic vases and minimalist white art, the overall energy in the room would be lackluster.

If I say ‘refrigerator’ you think kitchen right? How about a cooling drawer in the bathroom? Sounds strange doesn’t it? With an aging population, you have medication and supplements that sometimes require cool storage. Keeping them in the bathroom keeps them close at hand and diminishes the to and fro between kitchen and bathroom.
