I'm always brainstorming creative ideas to add to the wonderful community vibe here in Onoway. As you know KALOS Couture is filled inside with so many things I love...well...I also love a good outdoor market - so why not? Looking for a very small group of vendors who want to sell their fresh produce, fruit and flowers in a cute little mini-market. My vision is to hold this every Saturday from 11am to 3pm (weather permitting) through the summer! I am limited for space and am ...looking for quality not quantity. Selling one table. Need to make room for a new display cabinet! Just over 6 ft long and 4 ft deep. Frosted glass comes out for moving. Very sturdy. $75 and you can pick up at store.

It takes a village they say and I know we have a great one here in Alberta Beach! What a way to show community effort - anyone with extra wood and/or time on their hands please donate it to Rita Marie & Mama's to help build this awesome deck for Mama's Kitchen-Alberta Beach. I have set up my chairs for my customers, myself or anyone needing a seat for a minute to enjoy. I have not set it up for high school kids to come and smoke pot in front of my store. I was very polite when asking the three of you to leave the front of my store today - especially when I had a customer inside. You were welcome to sit - but when I saw that pipe come out and you actually lighting it - that was the deal breaker. What made you think that was okay to do? Next time I will not be so "polite". Thank you

You have asked about my new jewelry line and here is my original introduction post which tells the story behind my inspiration...I am also taking special orders on memorable pieces you would like created for keepsakes and repurposing of special pieces you may be holding on to. I would like to introduce my new jewelry line "Broken" by KALOS. It is taken from a form of artwork called "Chaney". I watched a show and was fascinated by this story on how the art of Chaney came to... be and it gave me the idea. How did these miniature works of art come about? Well here’s a little history. First of all the name, a word made up by local Caribbean children who used to smooth and round out these shards and use them as play money, combining the words china and money they became forever known as Chaney a unique Cruician treasure. Let me share a little on the story behind it. How did Chaney get here? Well, one explanation is that aboard passenger ships originating from Europe passengers found many of their luxury items, mainly their dinnerware had broken during their journey. China plates, tea cups, and urns being some of the items taxed upon weight caused these broken pieces to be thrown overboard in order to avoid paying the taxes. They now wash up on the beaches of the Caribbean, mostly in St Croix and are sought after to make art, mostly jewelry pendants and mosaics. The history and story behind these shards is what inspired me. I am such a pottery lover and have saved various "shards" of my broken pottery over the years in hopes to somehow repurpose it. I loved even the broken pieces so much that I couldn't bear to part with them by discarding them. I still have the lovely cat that initiated some of these shards! This collection has begun and is created from some of my saved pieces, shards, of broken pottery. It is my way of recycling and being sustainable by repurposing my most loved pieces in a way that I can share with others and be creative at the same time!

I know patio season is just around the corner! We are all getting excited to sit outside and feel the warmth... I bet some of you are happily planning your deck right now... I love being outside and eating a wonderful bbq'd meal at our patio table. I also love to enjoy a nice bottle of wine once in a while...you as well?
