When that happens that contracts muscles that we don't often think about called... Longus Colli & Longus Capitis As we look down for long periods of time, we shorten that muscle belly. What we usually forget is that our muscle holds memory too! So if it's contracted for a long time, it tends to forget how to lengthen/stretch as well! In this video, I will show you how to stretch your longus coli and longus capitis muscles! - Place one hand on the base of your neck, fingers resting on your collarbone and thumb resting on the opposite side - Place other hand on top of hand that is already in position (it may recreate the universal gesture of choking) - While resisting movement with your rested hands on collarbone, slowly begin to tilt your head back and look up (hold for 7-10 seconds) - As your head is tilted, slowly rotate head to one direction (hold for 7-10 seconds) - slowly rotate other direction (7-10 seconds) - Slowly bring neck back into the neural position (looking straight) - Slowly release hands from collarbone REPEAT 3-5x If you have any questions with the stretch please don't hesitate to ask for help!
