At Kaluza-Hughes Acres, our goal is to produce healthy, great tasting meat in a natural and sustainable way. We are now offering natural, pastured pork! The breed that we raise are Berkshires, which are a heritage breed originating from England. Berkshires are very hearty which allows them to live comfortably outdoors, even in winter. They are black in colour with white feet, white face and white tips of their tail. Our pigs are fed grass and hay as well as a custom blend of ...grain that is free of antibiotics or growth hormones. The Finest Pork The Berkshire Breed of pig consistently yields gourmet pork that is superior in taste and eating quality. This premium quality meat is darker, tastier, and contains more marbling than most other types of pork. Even the fat from the Berkshire has enhanced physical properties and flavour when compared to other breeds, and it actually breaks down during the cooking process adding to the overall flavour. This exceptional pork, prized for its richness and depth of flavour, is often referred to as 'Kurobota' which means 'Berkshire Gold', and is widely considered to be the Kobe beef of the pork world. It consistently tops other breeds in categories such as meat marbling, moisture and tenderness. Products available include but are not limited to: chops, roasts, ham, ribs, loin, tenderloin, ground pork, bacon. All sausages are gluten free. Whole, half and freezer packages are available
