As we return to Green status today we are back on the ice as of Friday February 12. As ice is limited right now only a few days have been posted but we anticipate to get the remaining schedule for the month of February shortly. The season will be extended in order to complete the remaining weeks we had when the province went into lockdown. Procedure and guidelines have not changed and stay the same as when we left off. Here is a reminder of a few things for your first ice tim...e this weekend: Remember to sign in to the Sportsheadz app for all practices and games. MASKS must be worn at all times. Players are only allowed to remove their masks when they put on their helmets to get on the ice. Players must come to the rink dressed with at least their bottom equipment. Each player is only allowed one spectator. Each team is asked to line up together. Please follow the spacing markers when in line to ensure distancing. As was the case in December, there should be two sign-in lines. You are only allowed in the facility 10 minutes before your ice time(this was previously 15) As we only have 10 minutes now please let the goalies and referees go to the front of the line. Parents are asked to go directly to the viewing stands after you help your player get ready. No loitering in the halls or on the players side of the pad. Remember to keep socially distanced in the stands and wear a mask at all times. Use hand sanitizing stations when entering and exiting. Be mindful of dressing room maximum occupancy numbers. There is no re-entry into facilities. Parents without players who come late will be denied entry. No food or drink other than closed water bottles for players will be permitted. Players are given 10 minutes after an ice time to vacate the facility. Only top clothing can come off to allow room for winter coats. As we are all excited to get our little ones back on the ice please remember to be patient and respectful of others as we get back to the routine of hockey.

Please see article below as we head into our holiday break. Just a reminder that we are accepting coaching applications for next season as well. Thank you to all our families, players, and volunteers for helping us get through our first half of the season. We definitely couldn’t have gotten to this far into the season without all you your support and understanding.... https://kamha.ca/Articles/7906/Holiday_Break/

Kingston Area Minor Hockey Association 03.12.2020

Our plan was to start our second half of the season on January 4th, but as everyone is aware, we are in a province wide lockdown for the next few weeks. As soon as we receive direction from our governing body, OHF/OMHA, as well as the government and the City of Kingston as to when we will be able to resume activities we will advise our membership. All new skill programs that were scheduled to start next week are on hold and we are hoping to start them at the same time our sea...son will resume. Please be patient and continue to follow public health guidelines as we all have the last few months. We could not have gotten to this point of the season without all our volunteers and families doing their part. As we take another pause enjoy the time with your family and most importantly stay safe and we will see you all back at the rink shortly. Sincerely, KAMHA Executive

Q:How do the new public health restrictions affect hockey for our members in Kingston? A: Honestly, right now we don’t have an answer. Our first and foremost priority is keeping everyone as safe as possible when they are playing hockey with KAMHA. So until we are told otherwise from KFL&A Public Health we are to continue to follow our Return to Hockey and Publicity Health guidelines as well as be extra vigilant on the following but not limited to: -Physical distancing at the ...facilities of 2 meters from other spectators -wearing your masks at all times when you are indoors. Players are to only remove their masks when they put on their helmets and get in the ice -Exercise frequent hand hygiene in and out of the facilities -Avoid touching your face -Adhering to the capacity limits in the facilities, ice, stands, dressing rooms -Spectators must remain in the spectator viewing area only!!! Not in the hallways or on the rink floor. If you are cold bring a blanket and dress accordingly. -And most importantly if you are sick please stay home and contact your health care provider and our public health COVID-19 call center to see what you should do next We have all done a great job in following the public health guidelines, thus giving our kids the opportunity to play hockey this season. We ask that If you decide to attend a non-sanctioned Hockey Canada league or tournament in another city outside of our public health unit to one of the current hot spots please be careful and self monitor for any symptoms before coming to a KAMHA ice time. I think we all can agree that we want our kids to continue playing hockey in Kingston as well as stay in school with their friends. So please with the safety and well-being of our kids and community continue to do a great job in following the public health guidelines. Coming to the rink is a lot like going to school.... please review the Covid screening tool with your child before arriving to your scheduled ice time. If your child answers yes to any of these questions, please stay home and check with your physician and or the KFL&A Public health to see if you should go get tested. Similar to school, if you are awaiting Covid test results, we also ask that you stay home. Everyone is enjoying being back on the ice... please help us keep our skaters and staff safe so we can continue!

We would like to remind everyone to please be kind to all the volunteers whether it’s our executives from KAMHA, our coaches, convenors, managers, trainers, rink attendants and or the screeners set up at each entrance. Our goal was and still is to get everyone in our community back to the sport they love ...playing and seeing their friends. We are all there trying to ensure everyone is safe and that we can continue to come to the rink. This is new for everyone and there will be some bumps in the road in the next few week but we are all trying our best to make it as smooth as possible. Parents please set expectations for yourself and your children that this is not a normal season and that we all need to follow the rules to ensure a safe return to hockey. The goal this year no matter the team you are on or the group you are in, is to focus on skill development, exercise and most importantly having fun. So please keep that in mind. With that enjoy your return to the rink follow the rules, stay safe and most importantly have fun!!!!

Every kid deserves someone who believes in them. Be THAT person. ...... At its best, criticism can do exactly what it's supposed to do: motivate, educate, and inspire. But when it seems mean and destructive, it can break spirits, damage companies, and even ruin careers. - Hendrie Weisinger Is your teaching/coaching building athletes up and making them better, or is it tearing them down? There is a difference between ‘giving everybody a trophy’ and riding your athletes unfairly and unjustifiably. The best coaches engage and inspire their athletes. They make their athletes want to learn, want to get better, want to WORK for success. At its best, criticism can do exactly what it's supposed to do: motivate, educate, and inspire.
