If you have a GST Tax Credit: If you’re eligible to receive the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Credit, the government is proposing to make a special payment in May which will double the maximum credit allowance for the 2019-20 benefit year. The average increase will be close to $400 for single folks, and close to $600 for couples.

Tax Payments: If you owe money on your 2019 tax return, you have until Sept. 1, 2020 to pay, which is four months later than the usual April 30 deadline. This means you will not be assessed any penalties or interest if your balance due is paid by Sept. 1, 2020.
