Frequently Asked Question: Can we still have a viewing or funeral if we select cremation? Yes. Cremation does not limit the types of services that may be chosen. The same options that apply to earth burial are available with cremation. Some of these choices include: casket type, location of the service and visitation, music selection, open casket(viewing) and the display of personal mementos. Some families elect to have a complete service at the funeral home or place of worship. Others prefer to have a procession to the crematorium, similar to that often done to the cemetery for an earth burial.

Alternatives partners with Remembrance Diamonds to offer a unique way to remember your loved ones. Remembrance Diamonds utilizes a small portion of your loved one’s cremated remains. Once the ashes have been received, all inorganic substances are chemically removed until only organic carbon and trace levels of boron remain. Boron is the element that determines the blue colour of the diamond, and the intensity of the hue. The organic carbon is then converted into graphite which is placed in a diamond-growing cell and subjected to a temperature of 2,900 F and pressure equal to 725,000 psi. Meet the team at Alternatives Kamloops! Manager and Funeral Director, Kim Nobert. Kim was born and raised in Kamloops and after 39 years found her calling as a licensed funeral director. She has attributed her life's lessons to reach both her personal and professional goals. After starting her funeral director’s apprenticeship in 2011, Kim graduated from Mortuary School in 2013 and was her class valedictorian.
