Now ideally: Don't get lost or injured out there. Plan your trip, know and stay within your limits, and take the essentials. But, a turn in the weather, unexpected injury, or equipment failure, can quickly change any recreational adventure into a crisis. If you end up in trouble: these volunteers will gladly come rescue you. At no charge Call 911 to access our services. (DG)
One of the best ways to ensure your safety when you're enjoying the outdoors this winter is to leave a trip plan with a responsible person at home. That way you can provide some crucial information that can help responders find you in an emergency. AdventureSmart, Canada’s national prevention program for outdoor recreationalists, has made this step too easy by providing a free trip plan smartphone app. Stay safe! (DG)
Congratulations to two of our volunteers who just passed the new Rope Rescue Tech 2 program! Way to go Lukas and Jeremy! (JS)

An update from the Cooper Family Foundation. This goes a long ways in helping support us, our friends with the SRD K9s team, and our new hall. Thank you so much for the support! (JM)

Did you know? If you are in an emergency situation and only have a phone with no apparent signal, still try to dial 911. Your call goes to any available tower, not just your provider’s tower. You can now watch North Shore Rescue the series on Knowledge Network (DG)
If you're planning to take advantage of Go Fishing Day, or BC's Family Fishing Weekend, make sure you go prepared. Take your essentials, including activity specific, and leave a trip plan. More on Family Fishing Weekend http://ow.ly/oFEP50A6DWj. and on safe fishing from AdventureSmart https://adventuresmart.ca/water/fishing.htm ... (JS / Photo: Unsplash)
Don't Die Out There! card of the week: Treating snake bites Snakes are a reality and while most in the Kamloops area are not venomous, it's a good idea to be aware of where you are walking, and know how to treat a bite if it happens. (JS)
