Ottawa, like the rest of Ontario, is once again facing a 28-day lock down. This is affecting the opening of the Legion, and is no doubt affecting you, our members and friends, as well. The Legion and the Ladies' Auxiliary will continue to support our members to the best of our ability. Keep your eyes open for the next Take-Out dinner Legion fundraiser, which will be announced a little bit later in early January. There will also be a Valentine Take-out dinner Legion fundrai...ser, happening in February. Details will be sent to you in an email probably late January 2021. Also, just a reminder. that although the Legion is closed, we are still running our bottle/can drive and are still accepting these items at the back doors. On behalf of the Ladies' Auxiliary, we hope you had a great Christmas, that you're staying safe and healthy, and we wish all of you a Very Happy and Healthy New Year. Here's hoping 2021 will be much better for all.

Comrades, As a result of COVID casualty figures growing in Ontario, the Provincial authorities have declared a lockdown from 26 Dec to 23 Jan. However, recent information indicates that because of Ottawa's low figures, Ottawa may be locked down for only 14 days if our numbers stay low. More to follow as information is made available.... The immediate effect on our Branch is that: there will be no Sunday Bingo; no Catch the Ace Breakfasts or Suppers; no darts; no Branch Executive Meeting; no Fish and Chips except take out, if activated; and no other Club gatherings or meetings. Catch the Ace draws will continue as well as the contract for Green Rebel curb-side pickup if the contract is renewed. Vital administrative and security tasks will continue. Health Canada Office in Kanata during their food drive for the Kanata Food Cupboard on Nov 9, 2020. This effort was a success for the Food Cupboard and poppy selling. They raised around $ 200.00 for an hours work. Health Canada Volunteers and John Kern taken during this effort.

Comrades, I am happy to report that, in keeping with the Province’s new directions on COVID 19, the Branch Reopening Committee has determined that it is possible for some activities to recommence effective Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 12:01 am. To date, requests have been received from Bingo, Catch the Ace Breakfasts, and Darts on the understanding that they, as well as all other users, will follow the specific instructions published by the City of Ottawa (attached below).
