Today, the Ontario Government announced that the province will enter a province-wide shutdown on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. The current restrictions do not directly impact the ability of Massage Therapists (MTs/RMTs) to provide healthcare services. Kanata Massage Therapy fully understands the seriousness of the situation of stopping the spread of COVID-19 and we have been closed since Mar 15, 2020. We are cancelling all appointments until May 19th, 2020. Premiere Doug Ford anticipates social distancing to last until possibly June. Dear clients, It is with a very heavy heart that I must temporarily close the clinic. Our governing body, the CMTO announced today it strongly recommends that all non-essential massage therapy be suspended until further notice. Ottawa public health is also asking the public to avoid going out for non-essential reasons. This is very difficult to myself and the KMT therapists who are self- employed and rely on treatments for their income. Dear Clients, We are closely monitoring the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the CMTO, RHPA and local health agencies for the latest developments related to COVID-19 and are following the guidance of government and public health officials. Before your treatment: Please delay your appointment if you feel unwell (cough, sore throat, fever or breathing difficulties)... Please delay your visit if the past 14 days: - you have been to a COVID-19 impacted area or - you have been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 - you have been in close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness who has been to a COVID-19 impacted area As always, therapists wash their hands and arms before and after each treatment. We use a hospital grade disinfect Cavicide to disinfect surfaces such as door handles, chairs, interac machine and light switches. We understand that the situation is fluid and will notify clients if anything changes. We will waive our usual cancellation fee for last minute cancellations due to illness or Covid related concerns. Happy Thanksgiving! What a gorgeous day for the trails in Stittsville. We are taking a much needed break and are closed Sunday and Monday. I am thankful for all of my wonderful PPE-covered colleagues who work so hard to keep everyone safe and well cared for. I am also grateful for our supportive, patient and understanding clients. We are open! All of our therapists have returned, some choosing to work part time at the moment. Our online booking system is partially open. The pandemic has proven to be an unexpected balancing act for us. We are attempting to cope with operating at a fraction of our pre-Covid capacity while at the same time experiencing significant increase in costs. After careful consideration, we are raising our prices effective July 1, 2020. The price increase reflects the cost of PPE, disinfection supplies, new equipment and the increased time between clients for disinfection. We are doing our best to keep the clinic afloat... during these difficult times so that we can continue to care for our clients. As of today, we do not have a finalized opening date, but will inform you when there is one. Some of our therapists are choosing not to return just yet and Wendy fully understands and supports their decision. New direction from the Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Officer of Health now permits RMT’s to gradually restart Massage Therapy services. The Directive encourages healthcare providers to limit the number of in-person visits for the safety of healthcare providers ...and their patients. We are to prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. Massage Therapy treatment is considered essential when the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences). We have some changes that will be coming into effect over the next while. Some items will be: -Your therapist will be required to wear a surgical mask during all treatments and interactions with you. It is also highly recommended that all clients bring, and wear, a mask in the clinic as well (can be cloth or surgical, as long as it fully covers the mouth and nose). We have decided to make this mandatory as we take keeping all our patients as safe as possible very seriously. -Clients will be asked to wait in their car for their confirmed appointment. They will be directed in when the therapist is ready. They will be ushered directly into their treatment space. - Please arrive alone. If you must bring a caregiver, they will also be assessed. -We will not accept walk-ins at this time. -There will be additional screening necessary for each appointment to ensure the safety of anyone that enters the clinic space. We have to consider protecting the most at-risk individuals who entrust us with their care. Please, if you have questions, correspond by email, and not by phone.
