Like to go for runs? Test your knowledge on whats false and whats true about healthy running. FALSE: Most injuries are caused by external factors like shoe style, the hardness of running surfaces, the weather; or internal factors like personal running mechanics, under/over-stretched muscles.... TRUE: Most injuries are due to abnormal stress on the tissues brought on by a rapid increase in training volume or intensity. We have no one to blame but ourselves! Train smart: add high-intensity and high-volume elements to your workout gradually and dont overdo it. Even when youre used to the hard stuff, make sure youre getting adequate and scheduled rest days, and lighter workouts in too. Stay safe and stay healthy! If you have any pain, strains or injuries, please get in touch with us so you can get back to feeling healthy: https://kanataphysiotherapy.com/contact-us/

Acupuncture is the therapeutic method of reducing pain and improving bodily function through the insertion of fine needles in the skin and tissues of the body. When used by a skilled physiotherapist, acupuncture is an effective, endorphin-releasing tool. When performed by one of our certified physiotherapists, acupuncture treatments are a part of your treatment plan. There is no extra cost, and you can claim the treatment for insurance the same way you would a physiotherapy session. Start off 2020 right with an appointment with one of our skilled physiotherapists and book your acupuncture appointment today: http://fal.cn/rUSP

We are always learning at the Kanata Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Clinic! Our Physiotherapist, Roni El-Haddad, recently completed his dry needling certification! Congratulations Roni! Dry needling practitioners are trained to insert small, thin needles in the muscles at the trigger points causing the pain referral. Once the needle hits the appropriate trigger point, the muscle contracts and releases, improving the muscles flexibility and decreasing symptoms.
