In remembrance of Bobby Baron , ... . , . , , : . : , . : , . . *** Bobby Baron had a reputation as an excellent hunter and storyteller, yet Ilagiisaq will especially remember him as a big man with an even bigger heart. When Bobby greeted you, his impressive frame and enveloping handshake could feel imposing but his kind face and reassuring smile revealed his truly gentle and considerate temperament. Bobby had been involved in the co-op movement in Nunavik since its early days, even supporting his co-op through carving sculptures as a youth. Bobby remained implicated in the movement for most of his life because he understood that co-ops owned and run by Inuit represented much more than commercial gain; that they were a path to autonomy. His unwavering commitment to the co-ops was inspirational; whether he was acting as a co-op Director, as an FCNQ Director or as an Executive Director his decisions were anchored in the present and future welfare of his people. Bobby was the embodiment of the Inuit cooperative spirit; considerate, involved and proud. We will remember him well and be forever grateful for all he accomplished. See more
