The Indigenous Literacy and Parenting Skills (I-LAPS) program is designed to provide support for Indigenous parents looking to assist their child’s literacy development in both reading and writing. However, this I-LAPS session will be a bit special this day On September 30th, we celebrating Orange Shirt Day! Orange Shirt Day was created to educate and raise awareness about the residential schools and lifelong impact they had on the Indigenous community. Many misfortunes have... affected the Indigenous community during recent history. Therefore, we must not forget about the lifelong impact these actions had on Indigenous way of life, and why it is important to preserve and protect our values and traditions for the future generations. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning Indigenous history and culture to join us on this special day! A guest speaker will be joining us on the panel (to be announced). * This program is offered at no cost.
