Started these two paintings yesterday at an open studio day. I am loving the white on white on white it really gives you time and focus on brushstrokes, texture and depth you can coax out of white. This review just came in for an experience I hosted a couple of weeks ago "Karen is encouraging, gentle, and generous! A wonderful artist and teacher! She holds space to be creative and guides you through your own process. It was an engaging experience start to finish. The time flew! The snack offering was great, and gave us a reason to take breaks periodically! My husband and I are not naturally painters! But we both left with pieces that were true to ourselves, and that we liked! I was honestly impressed at the work my husband made! I’ve been using my sketchbook since the workshop, which has been a blessing and gift!"

Is it coincidence or attention that has me seeing articles and mentions of sketchbooks?! I’ve been working with many of mine recently to repurpose my books from years gone by to create new art. As it happens I’ve noticed a great number of artists, artwork, programs (like a new series by @cbcarts) and articles on sketchbooks recently. Is it because we’ve had a year where introspection, contemplation and recording thereof have us recognizing the importance of noting history or... herstory?
