What a fun family portrait session in Fort Langley over the holidays. I've known the Tomicki's since 2010, so it was great to see them again and to see how their family has grown in these past 10 years! It was a lively session with the little one plus their two black labs that joined us at the end, and somehow even with all the rock-throwing, toddler-running and dog-chasing, I managed to snap a few photos with everyone looking! A couple weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to work with Emily's local business, capturing what I absolutely LOVE to photograph: someone hard at work, and doing the thing they love! It was in her studio here in Squamish that I had the chance to photograph her designing and constructing her beautiful yet functional ceramics.... Emily makes a few particular designs out of slab clay, but her main mode of creation is the . These photos dive a bit deeper into what I have on my website, and are here to tell you a visual story of the different stages involved (and all the that goes into!) creating a gorgeous ceramic piece, from start to finish. At the start of this month I was fortunate to photograph a pretty special occasion - the meeting of two beautiful families from some of the best countries on this planet (imo ;)). With Rachel's family from Vancouver and Dan's family hailing all the way from New Zealand, the room was a whirlwind of handshakes, hugs, smiles and laughter, as both sides got to know each other before the big day the following afternoon. Portraits are a funny thing. I know the feeling of vulnerability sitting directly in front of a camera, all lights and eyes on you, but there are ways to make it comfortable, relaxed & fun. For example: eating ice cream while the shutter is clicking away.. which has definitely been done before And then once the shoot is done? Well, you can leave feeling proud of what you've just accomplished and excited for new professional photos of yourself! It's full on winter here in Squamish these days! Does anyone else love the white stuff as much as me? It's not the easiest through October & November when it seems that all we'll ever get is rain, but once the snow is here it reminds me why the wait is well worth it #snowydays #keepitcoming
