If you watch my IG stories, you’ll see that I slept on a screw last night (swipe left). Yup a screw. No idea how that happened. The funny part is I had the best sleep ever. It wasn’t till I woke up and went to make my bed that I saw the screw. Someone DMed me and said it’s not the kind of screw that usually happens in bed...I thought that was a good one! Oh the funny things that happen after a reno!! I’ll take it all cause I am over the moon happy to be back home. I love... everything and can’t wait for the backordered items to arrive to complete our home!! This photo is from our recently completed Medwin project. Stay tuned for more photos from this fabulous reveal. Construction @rosebuilding Photography @particlefilmcompany

You know that saying, you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with? Well, it’s TRUE. I am so fortunate to have the most creative, hard working designers on the planet. Thank you Amanda and Elisa for making KBD look good. You are simply the best! #KBDTeam #ItTakesAVillage #DesignLife

We designed this kitchen for one of our @propertybrothers #ForeverHome episodes we worked on this season. These homeowners loved shiplap and wanted a timeless white kitchen for their family to enjoy fir years to@come. We incorporated 8 wide shiplap and had it installed horizontally as their backsplash. We selected Simply White as the millwork colour and incorporated a traditional shaker style door profile. The counter is a new quartz colour called Piatra Gray, it’s a warm d...ark grey that is stunning. The open shelving kept the kitchen from feeling heavy and allowed us to display beautiful dishes that are within reach. I’m in love with the art leaning on the counter. It’s a charcoal drawing of a barn by the incredible Darlene Jordan, who also happens to be my cousin . Artist @darlene.jordan.900

I don’t know about you but when the sun is shining I feel 200% better. DID YOU KNOW: today on February 20th the sun sets at 550pm but one month from now the sun won’t set till 730pm! Isn’t that fantastic? These are the things we need to hold onto friends!! This sunny home pictured above is from a house we designed with Jonathan for the show Property Brothers: Buying & Selling. It was an amazing show to be a part of. This gorgeous home needed a full facelift to bring it b...ack to it’s original glory. We made 2 big changes to this family room that really transformed this space. First, we closed up a door leading to the side yard. This exit was never used and really impeded our floor plans. Second, we took out a massive bar and opted for a home office area instead. To see more photos of this Property Brothers family room as well as some before photos SWIPE LEFT.

HAPPY NEW YEARS! Anyone else NOT doing this, this year? This New Years it’ll be just us, at home, trying our best to stay up till midnight. We were supposed to be away right now but alas, 2020 was just that year where things didn’t go as planned.... Truth be told, we haven’t faired as unfavourably as many. My hubby and I both have our jobs, our kids are doing pretty well and my 99 y/o grandma did beat covid so there have been wins. It’s also been difficult at times with our three teens home so much, wanting to see their friends more. My mother in law has also been quite sick these last few months so that’s been emotionally straining on all of us. It is definitely time to bring on a new year! Who’s unbelievably ready for 2021 to begin?

This whole home transformation was one of our favourite projects to date. This young family was moving back to Canada and hired our firm to design their new home. We introduced them to our favourite construction company and we were off to the races. Throughout this project almost all correspondence was done through email and FaceTime which was really efficient. Flip through the photos to see the changes we made in the master bedroom. Deigning this kitchen for our homeowners was a treat! From the beginning, they said they wanted to stick with a mostly neutral palette but weren’t afraid of pops of colour so the KBD team pulled out of our comfort zones and are so happy with the results. For this project, we knew we wanted to make one bold statement but weren’t sure where that would be. It was when we were out sourcing and came across these stunning cement tiles we knew that this was the wow factor we wanted.... We thought incorporating the tiles as the kitchen backsplash was too much so we decided to instal the tiles on the back of the island and we LOVE how it turned out. The lesson for me here is it’s okay to come out of your comfort zone sometimes as these are often the exact elements that make the design really sing. I adore this sitting area we designed with Jonathan in our previous Property Brothers Forever Home episode. This area is nestled amongst a bay of windows which used to house the previous homeowners kitchen table. When we opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room a second table felt unnecessary in the kitchen. Instead we opted for a comfortable sitting area to enjoy a coffee in the morning while reading the paper or relax in the evening with a glass of wine. This ...spot overlooks a forest and is very private. We incorporated floor to ceiling custom draperies, a rug and comfortable furnishings so this nook felt welcoming for these busy homeowners to take a moment for themselves. Swipe left to see more before & after photos of this nook. If you missed this episode click the link in my profile. AND don’t forget to watch our next @propertybrothers episode airing this Monday on @hgtv. Photography @simplycurateco Construction @rosebuilding

The wall coming out between our dining room and kitchen was a game changer on our most recent episode of @propertybrothers! This allowed Keri & Andrew to keep a closer eye on their 4 young children and really opened up the space. With the wall gone we were able to incorporate a large round table that sits 8 and also expand the kitchen island for a more functional, family friendly home. Swipe left to see how the previous wall really divided up the space.... And if you missed this episode click the link in my bio! Construction @rosebuilding Photography @simplycurateco

If you haven’t heard, we are starting a whole home renovation at our house in January and I am over the moon excited ! We are moving out for three months while our amazing contractors do their thing and give us the home of our dreams. When designing a whole home I often start with the kitchen, after all it is the of the home. In my kitchen, I want timeless materials, casual sophistication and a place that welcomes you into our home. On my wishlist is a 48 gas range..., oodles of storage and a large island. The more difficult decisions for me are the finishes. I can’t decide on my cabinets or counters...I know I don’t want white, simply because I’ve had a white kitchen for years. But I know I want a white envelope (walls/doors/trim) and some contrast because that’s what we do here at KBD!! HELP! What is your favorite kitchen to date? Do I go light or dark or wood on the cabinets? Should I go with quartz or maybe soapstone on the counters? Ack! I’m my worst client!
