Do you have a picky eater at home? If you think that dietitians' kids are eating everything without complaining, think again My daughter enjoys turning her bananas into ghost. Making it fun is always a way to have them eat more fruits and vegetables. But there's more. ... Here are my top three tips to help picky eaters become adventurous eaters. 1. Don't force them. Your role as a parent is to decide what, when and where your child will eat. The child's responsibility is if and how much of the food served they will eat. No more tension at the table. 2. Exposure, exposure, exposure. We'll never say it enough. The more your child is exposed to different food often, the more he'll be interested in trying them eventually. Modeling healthy eating is the best way for your child to develop healthy eating habits. 3. Get them involved in the kitchen. Kids are always proud of what they prepare, even if the recipe calls for ingredients they are not fan of. They'll most likely try. If not, at least they got exposed during the preparation. Is there a food that you just can't eat and don't like at all? Leave it in the comments below For me, it's mayo - I just can't! I tried many times, but it just doesn't agree with me on so many levels. ... If you have ever felt like you needed to force yourself to eat a specific food you don't like, just because someone told you so, or because you read it on social media - you're not alone. I hear this from clients more too often, but know that no specific food is necessary in order to be healthy. All foods fit, and I'm sure there are things you like that can fit into a healthy plate model. As dietitians, we work with clients to build healthy meals with things they already enjoy. Of course we will encourage you to try new things. However, never will we instruct you to eat a food or a recipe you dislike, or make you feel bad for not liking them. We all have different taste, and that's completely normal!
