#tbt Years ago, long before cellist Bryan Holt became half of the acclaimed Canadian duo VC2 he went on tour with me (also pianist John Roney) I arranged a little art song by Canadian composer Marguerita Spencer called "Reality" and we performed that while on tour. Some of my fave moments on that tour included what I will describe as turning a negative into positive (you know how KP likes that kind of thing Find the positive if you can!) In Jasper, Alberta the power suddenly... went out so...no electricity for keyboard or sound system. Therefore...Bryan proceeded to play solo cello. Bach. Exquisite. Breathtaking. Then, until the power came on I sang duo with Bryan. Yes, fave moments I store in my little memory bank. (**as a young student I remember playing various piano pieces by composer M. Spencer in music festivals each year and arranging this song was a little tribute to my own prairie roots. Another beautiful art song M. Spencer composed is "June Magic" and that is currently in the RCM voice syllabus. A new lyric video for my song "That Sounds Just Right" from the album "I'll Send This Dream" which I recorded with John Miller (guitar) and John Reischman (mandolin). I seem to have a fondness for writing a blues with a bridge This is a very simple song, one I wrote while sitting in my hammock and playing my uke on a camping trip. Thanks to host Margaret Gallagher for the spin on Hot Air today. The program is featuring artists whose birthdays are in March. I certainly am delighted to see one of my fave artists on the list with me Adam Robert Thomas And, I am looking forward to the day when Adam and I can share the stage since, our November concert had to be canceled/postponed due to covid restrictions. Here's to 2021 and making that concert happen AFTER things are safe once again.
