There's a song by Crystal Lewis and Ron Kenoly called Beauty for Ashes that states in its chorus: "He gives beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, peace for despair..." This is exactly how I felt at my beloved Welcome Home Evangelistic Ministries 5th Anniversary Dinner where I was invited to share a brief testimony. As I spoke with my dear friend, sister in Christ, mentor and Spiritual Mother, Reverend Winnie Manu, I felt choked up as we looked upon my art display. What do we do in the midst of the storm? The Christian cliché is to PRAY. But what if we don't feel like praying? What if we've lost hope? Doubt God? What if we're tired and weary of praying because we've been doing it for 10, 15, 20 years and it seems like nothing is happening? What are we to do when we feel like a broken record with our prayers that are in accordance with His will as He has spoken to you? What if we are so downcast and become in despair?...like we can't go... on anymore because the attacks are overwhelming and burdening our minds, bodies and souls? CALL SOMEONE. CALL A TRUSTED FRIEND. FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHERS. BE AUTHENTIC AND TRANSPARENT. HUMBLE OURSELVES BEFORE GOD AND OTHERS. ASK OTHERS TO PRAY FOR YOU to break the strongholds and oppression. ...to intercede on our behalf....to strengthen and encourage us in our faith in Christ Jesus, reminding us what He's done in the past for us. Jesus comforts us through others as well, not only supernaturally in the spiritual realm. Sometimes strength in the storm is just surviving another day. Sometimes in the storm we need to ride on the coat tales of others' faith. We need others to remind us of truth when Satan's lies attack our minds affecting our bodies and souls. So what do we do in the midst of the storm? Pray anyway...in spite of our possible anger, rage, despair, anguish, mistrust, feeling abandoned and betrayed, feeling hopeless...just pour out our hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. Ask Him to fill us with His thoughts and ways instead and for direction, wisdom, guidance and His solutions. Satan's tactic in the storm is to put a wedge between us and God - to get us to stop talking to God altogether and stray away from Him. It is difficult to remember or even to feel motivated to PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS. But truth is truth no matter how we feel. I'm so glad we are not to forsake the fellowship of the brethren. God made us communal and we lift each other up in Spirit, truth and love. In the midst of the storm, He WILL comfort, and guide us in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. PRAY and obey, with thanksgiving and supplication and watch God do His thing.

"Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby is an absolute must read for Christians to know how to walk with Jesus and see his work on a day to day basis, being led by the Holy Spirit - not telling the Holy Spirit to bless our plans... I just love how personal and intimate our Lord and Saviour is...with every single chapter I read, I had either just experienced its content, or was experiencing it or was just about to experience what the chapter was about...give or take a day or two.... God is so good in spite of the storms. So many questions I had over the 19 years were being answered regarding biblical salvation, not what we teach in 21st century pop psychology showboating Christianity. We cannot have Spirit without Truth or Truth without the Holy Spirit. ...and of course agape love in the mix as well. I feel a bible study coming on soon on the workbook for this book! Ladies, if you are interested in another dynamic life changing bible study, let me know! Thinking in September 2016 to start....Fridays from 7 - 9 pm. 1 hour bible study. 1 hour prayer meeting. Thought I'd show you the book as it is good but it is the more in depth workbook that will be needed. http://www.christianbook.com/apps/cart
