We love creating new details, sometimes it comes with a few challenges but mostly just the collaboration with contractors and trades that are willing to try new things. We really wanted a clean look for the glass railing surrounding this staircase with no posts. We had the opportunity to be onsite and be part of the install, it turned out beautifully and was worth every minute of the extra effort!

Designing custom vanities is usually one of our favourite parts of interior design; however, every once in a while we come across a little gem we can’t refuse. This is one of them. Things we look for are special wood species (in this case wenge veneer) interesting doors or shape and hardware that is on point. This wall hung vanity was also the perfect size and scale for this powder room. Paired with a custom mirror perfect lighting and the right accessories, it fits perfectly into our vision!

This fireplace looks beautiful and simple, yet it comes with a little more complexity than you may think! These two stunning book matched porcelain slabs arrived on a cold, snowy winters day about a year ago. It took precision, patience and four very strong men to lift it from its A-frame crate. If only that was its only challenge, with its unique nature size being 12’ tall by 6’ wide. Not only did we want the marbling to be book matched on the front, we also wanted the mar...bling pattern to wrap around the two sides of the fireplace as well. In order to do that, in of course the most cost effective way, it need to be cut lengthwise and with one very precise cut. To make things even more complicated, it wasn’t even getting cut by a saw, as one may think (us more specifically). It needed to be scored with one consistent solid line and with equal amounts of pressure snapped to create the two pieces needed to clad this fireplace. Did I mention the cost of one of these slabs was enough to want to get it correct the first time!? Well I hate to be brutally honest but we weren’t so lucky with our first cut. It put a hold and damper on everything! A designers nightmare really. We then had to have several discussions on what we were going to do next - Start again? forget our loses? Re select?! I’m happy to report, that with our clients optimism and hopes for better luck next time, we decided to try once again. In this kitchen we completely redesigned the architects traditional kitchen with a sink in front of the window, offset range, angled pantry and square island by giving this kitchen a more symmetrical, open and spacious feeling.
