Kaslo Fire is helping Kaslo Library’s fundraising auction with a donation of two rides in the fire truck during the May Days parade. Their website is available at https://kaslolibrary.ca and we invite you to have a look at the great variety of items in their auction catalog. https://event.auctria.com//a780d600ec2e11e9ae081db830846aa5
Help us help you! This is just a gentle reminder from the Kaslo and Lardeau Valley First Responders that clearly visible house number signs are a huge help in being able to find you quickly in an emergency situation. If you have a long driveway or your house isn’t easily seen from the street, have your house number sign posted near the roadway where we can see it. We’ve have problems in the past where we’ve driven by the response location because of this. ... Signs should have 4 high reflective numbers and be mounted in a clearly visible location. So help our First Responders get to you as quickly as they can.
Kaslo Fire needs you! We’ve had a couple of fire fighters leave Kaslo recently so our need for fire fighters has gone up. If you’ve been thinking about joining, now’s the time to make a difference. Visit https://www.rdck.ca/join-us and follow the link to send an expression of interest to the fire chief.
Kaslo residents, thinking about burning some yard debris? Before you do, check to make sure you are complying with the Kaslo Open Burning and Fireworks Bylaw: Category 1 fires (0.5m x 0.5m) are permitted except when there is a campfire ban in place. Category 2 (1.5m x 1.5m x 1m high) fires are permitted October 1st to May 15th inclusive and must be more than 30 ft from any building, structure, overhead wires or cables.... Category 3 (3m x 3m x 2m high) fires are permitted October 1st to May 15th inclusive and must be more than 30m from any building, structure, overhead wires or cables and 500m from schools in session, hospitals and care homes. Get a permit for category 3 fires from the Village of Kaslo office. You may burn garden waste such as glass clippings, leaves and branches. You man not burn noxious materials such as tires, oil, tar asphalt, shingles, batteries and plastics. Before you light the fire: Check the ventilation index by calling 1-888-281-2992 or check online at http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/epd/epdpa/venting/ using the Castlegar index. The current ventilation index must be good for the first day and good or fair for the next day of burning. Have a person 19 or older to attend the fire at all times. Have a water hose with an adequate water supply and a shovel on hand to extinguish the fire if necessary.
