SCAM ALERT!!! If you receive a call from Visa (Mastercard) with a recorded message saying your card starting in 45 (or whatever) has suspicious activity and then states a specific fraudulant charge or two such as Ebay or Itunes for x dollars. DO NOT CALL the number given. If in doubt, call the number on the back of your card.

Watch for additional medical expenses deducted from your paystub. Often this amount goes unrecorded on the T4 but the portion of health benefits you paid for is a claimable medical expense for income tax purposes.

CRA Email Scams! Hopefully we are all aware of the CRA phone scams out there but also email. I just received a very legitimate looking email from CRA with a word doc attached and instructions to complete and return. DO NOT OPEN! It is a virus. If I had not known otherwise, it would have been very tempting to open as it did appear legit. I just want to warn others!
