I was never intending to take any natural light photos during this session for the reason that Vancouver spent over a week enshrouded in smoke so thick from the wildfires south of the border that we couldn’t open our windows and our lungs hurt from breathing the air outside. In the middle of working with @carminvalncia, though, a ray of sunshine beamed down through the smoke and we scrambled to capture this shot. This year has been so hard, but there have been moments of total beauty and I am SO grateful for each one. Love love love mixing natural light with strobes. I'm so lucky to have huge windows in my studio space but I often still need to fill the shadows a little and add more luminance to my photos. This was mostly natural light, but filled with a large diffused umbrella camera left and a black v-flat on my right to add a bit more dimension. Rio Translado + Alyson Dubey <3
