Imagine being in your last year of high school/ your graduating year, during a pandemic.... You have chosen to study ASTROPHYSICS in one of the best Universiti...es and therefore have to take the most difficult and most advanced science and math courses available to gain entry into a great program. Then you find out, that you’re going to be taking these difficult courses online, with a lot of self-teaching and self-discipline involved. Meet my younger son, Andrew. (Without any involvement from me) He wakes up every morning at 8am. Gets dressed. Makes his bed. Prepares himself breakfast and then sits down at his desk to begin his online courses at 8:30am. sharp every single day. It is now 7:30pm as I write this and he will still be sitting there until 10pm. (Of his own accord) Since the pandemic began: he has never slept in he has not complained even one time about the amount of work involved. he’s never miserable. he’s not on social media this Quadmester (new semester name) he has Advanced Chemistry for 3.5 hours straight every morning and Earth & Sciences for 3.5 hours every afternoon. (Can you imagine!) He currently has a 95 average. People wonder what it takes to be successful..... The secret This young man decided for himself that he was going to commit to attending the classes, doing the work, staying disciplined and doing what needed to be done to get him where he needs to go. This young man has decided for himself what path he wishes to follow in the future, so we discussed the effort that that would involve, and the self-discipline needed to achieve success. I am so proud of this young man, not because of his high grades (which is absolutely amazing!) but because he remains calm, focused and still spends his weekends enjoying himself playing his video games with his friends. (P.s. in his free time he built that mega-computer he’s using! ) #flow

I didn’t put an offer date because Buyers are getting tired of being in competition. So.... I listed this House at Market Value with no offer date, set reasonable expectations with my clients and began my Marketing System. There were Multitudes of showings over the Thanksgiving weekend...and tonight I sold it 114% over Listed MARKET Value price. The man in the photo.... ISN’T One of my clients!! I was terrified to do my first Real Estate Market Update Video in January 2016. I was so scared...but I knew I had to do it because I had just hired my very first Business coach Jon Cheplak, who I declared to that I would commit to doing Videos for ONLY 1 year. (I didn’t think they worked and wanted to prove him wrong!) I worried so much about doing this first Update, I felt sick to my stomach. ... ...and then, one freezing cold January afternoon when it was -19C , I mustered up the courage and decided that was the time! 5400 views!!! I seriously couldn’t believe it! I even got a Listing call from it within 1 week. Got the listing. Then got a subsequent 7 deals! I told myself that by the end of that year (2016), people would NEVER continue watching my Videos. I convinced myself that people wouldn’t be interested in what I had to say. I didn’t like the way I looked. I didn’t like the way I sounded. BUT....I had made a commitment to do them for a year, and I always follow through on what I say. Fast forward almost 5 years... For the last 25 years, I have either worked 2-3 jobs at a time or run 2-3 businesses at a time. It’s been challenging. It’s been tiring. ... But, it’s also been fulfilling and fun and exciting! Before I had kids, juggling 3 jobs wasn’t too difficult, but I had to be organized with my time. I had to pre-plan teaching lessons for my day teaching job 7:30am.-2:00pm., pre-plan teaching lessons for my afternoon-evening classes (3pm.-7:45pm.) and also prepare what I would teach the individual students I tutored between 8-10pm. I followed this schedule for many years with my first son. Then came my 2nd son, and multi-tasking became even trickier because I also decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Education, so that I could teach at University level. So I kept my day teaching hours, kept my tutoring hours but increased the number of students and worked on my Masters Degree when the kids went to bed at night and weekends. I graduated my Masters Degree with Honours (A+), but also had a massive heart attack and Open Heart surgery. So, learning how to work smarter and not harder with less stress became a necessity!!! Learning how to become extremely productive in short spurts of time with less overwhelm was essential!!! Today, I run a successful Real Estate Brokerage, have a Coaching company, Sell a high-level of Real Estate and do speaking engagements across Canada and the US, while still enjoying life! My office is empty every day. Everyone works remotely. Why do I even bother showing up at 9am everyday?... What’s the point in me getting up at 5:45am. working out, dressing up, doing my hair and make up and leaving the house on time? For who? There’s no one here! I’ll tell you why... Showing up means being prepared mentally and physically to put in the work, regardless of outside factors or obstacles, including your own voice in your mind. Showing up every day and treating each new day, project and task as if it is the most important thing in the world is a surefire way to make sure you get better at what you do and move in the right direction to where you want and need to be. By showing up and working, you will make progress, every day. It’s inevitable. 2020 has been one the most fascinating, introspective, growth-building years I’ve had since my open heart surgery. Being given a pause to just stop and reflect has been a gift. So this gift now needs to be put to good use>> creating a solid plan for 2021 and beyond. Why make a plan for 2021 when we don’t know what to expect? Because we’ve NEVER known what to expect in a new year- this is no different. But, we still make that plan because regardless of outside factors, progress can still be made, no matter how small. In his book, Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of NIKE, Phil Knight, said this about working hard to achieve your dream: So that morning in 1962 I told myself: Let everyone else call your idea crazy . . . just keep going. Don’t stop. Don’t even think about stopping until you get there, and don’t give much thought to where there is. Whatever comes, just don’t stop. I feel the very same as I wake up each morning at 5:45am. I don’t worry about where there is....what’s around the corner... how will 2021 unfold... What I know, is that if i just keep going, little steps forward every single day, it will lead me to where I’m meant to be. This I am certain of.

One positive interaction with a supportive and enthusiastic friend can supercharge your own energy and motivation almost instantly. On the other hand, just one interaction with a really negative, critical person can drain you of energy and sap your motivation for the day. The last time I did a university course was for my Masters Degree 14 years ago. . A couple of months ago I decided to apply to Cornell University to take an intensive Executive Grad program in an area that really interests me -Women in Leadership. . My concerns were: Will I get accepted? And if I do, how will I find the time to study as the courses are short and intensive (lots of work in a short period of time). ... . I got accepted 4 weeks ago. . Started my first course 2 weeks ago and just finished Course 1. . 3 Quizzes based on readings & case studies . 3 Discussion Assigments based on various Theory . 4-part Writing Assignment including all concepts and Theory learned while integrating practical knowledge and experience. . Results out today!!!! 100% . How did I find the time? . Total FOCUS on the present. Every task Im doing, whether its selling a house, helping one of my agents, coaching and training on a Zoom presentation, dealing with a brokerage issue, having dinner with family... or studying.... . It took me 6 years to gain the courage to walk this hill! . There are 3 steep sections to it. Its the highest vantage point where I live. . I was worried my heart wouldnt be able to take it! ... . I wasnt planning on doing this today. But as I approached the top of the hill as I do every morning, I decided to walk down to the first section ....and then I walked down to the second one... and then I said to myself, I may as well just go to all the way to the bottom. . Of course, the downhill part isnt really the issue, is it! Once I turned around and looked back up, it was daunting, but today I felt up for it. . I turned up the podcast I was listening to a little louder and started to climb, one section at a time. .
