We have had to adapt our workshops because of restrictions around the gathering of large numbers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are some updates that address how we will be able to continue to do this important work while respecting government guidelines: *A four module online training experience based on The Village will be available on August 31, 2020. The online training takes approximately 6 hours to complete. Please contact Kathi for more information. *Kathi is ava...ilable to do webinars, consulting and coaching for organizations who are working to address systemic racism, increase cultural safety and to continue their journey of reconciliation. *The in-circle workshop experiences Building Bridges through Understanding the Village and Paddling Together (including graphic recording) have been modified to meet health standards. Groups will be limited in number. Large or outdoor spaces will be used. Chairs will be set 6’ apart, and buffet style lunches will be not be offered.
Good list of books posted today by Aboriginal Infant Development Centres BC.

No experiential workshops right now as we are all physically distancing and use self-isolation to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Though we are not gathering together physically right now I am witnessing that the values of the Village are alive and well. People are connecting via social networking. They are crowd sourcing, sharing and checking in on Elders nearby to offer whatever they caneven a smile or a simple gesture of kindness helps. Many of us are remembering the ways our ancestors lived, the medicines they used, the food they cooked, and their spiritual teachings. We are slowing down, letting go of busyness and paying attention to what matters most. Love. Respect. Kindness. Generosity. Our first teacher is our own heartCheyenne
Beautiful artwork in the Fort St. John Airport. It was a whirlwind week of travel and facilitation this week. Kelowna Tuesday, Surrey on Wednesday and Fort St. John on Thursday. Travel was extremely challenging with the big snowfalls and extreme cold. But... I was warmed by the dedication of all the participants who are working hard to step more deeply into reconciliation.
A wonderful film by Kamala Todd, Jessie Hemphill, myself, and many others helped to make. It does the important work of briefing people new to Canada about the struggles, wonders and realities of indigenous life in their new country.
Thank you Cindy Blackstock
This is from the TRC. What everyone can do to move more deeply into reconciliation. Happy 2020!
Today, we have made history. British Columbia is the first province in Canada to enshrine the human rights of Indigenous peoples in law. Thank you UBCIC First N...ations Summit BC Assembly of First Nations and all that gave their support and advocacy. With our shared commitment to reconciliation we will build a better future together. https://news.gov.bc.ca/21106
