I recently finished something different. Both of my parents passed in 2003 and 2008. They were married for 55 years. I like to think I am a blend of both of them. Mom was a sensitive person and dedicated wife and mother. Her creative talents were sewing and knitting, and a very talented artist in her early adult years. Dad was adventurous - an avid hunter/fisherman and multitalented. He could fix anything and spent his off-work life creating with wood and other materials. They worked together at gardening food and flowers. I am left with so many bits and pieces of their lives. This piece is a testament to who they were through some of the objects they used. I call it "Pieces from my Parents"

At the On the Avenue - Artisan's Gallery, Prince Albert, Kenderdine Autumn is now available as cards and prints (1 of 2, 18 x 24 Giclee on gallery-wrap canvas). The Life of a Building is available as prints on paper. 5 x 7 cards are $4.00 each. The rest of my display at this wonderful little gallery shop is completely changed. Stop in and check it out.

Kenderdine Autumn Acrylic 30 x 40" 2019 As the historic Kenderdine Campus at Emma Lake is now undergoing changes, I am glad that I have captured the beauty of the place in art. This is the most recent.

Started in November, finally finished yesterday. Acrylic, 30 x 40". Titled '12th Street with Trees.' Just a couple of days after I took the reference photo all the trees lining the street were cut down by the city for underground pipe replacement.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we're bringing you a virtual art exhibition, Into the Woods, from our Permanent Collection of Saskatchewan artwork. This is Ernest Li...ndner's Cedar Bark. Born in Austria in 1897, Ernest Lindner immigrated to Saskatoon in 1926, first working as a farm labourer, then becoming a self-taught commercial artist. He soon became recognized locally and nationally. Best known for his works in watercolour and pencil, he also produced linocut and wood-block prints and studied etching and lithography. He was one of the first members of the Saskatchewan Arts Board and influenced the University of Saskatchewan to run its annual Emma Lake Artists’ Workshops. Some of the prominent Modernist painters of New York were guests at the workshops in the late 1950s and early 1960s and were influenced by Lindner’s style. His paintings were exhibited across Canada and in Europe, and his work is represented in collections including the Academy of Applied Art (Vienna), Grant Central Galleries (New York City), the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada. Ernest Lindner passed away in 1988. In 2007 the Saskatchewan government designated his studio at Emma Lake as a provincial heritage property. This is "Falling" Acrylic on panel, 24 x 18" You get a poem with this one - originally written back in 1984. Enjoy. Dream Lesson #2... You dream that you are falling It’s the task of letting go You can either wake to break the dream Or sleep and watch the show You fell into complacency You fell into a trance You fell in and out of love When thirsting for romance You fell into addiction You fell into despair The chasm grinned its maw of fear While you tumbled through the air You fell into your sleep And you fell into your dream You fell for greed and you fell for lies And you fell from grace again The landing's where you want it Or it needn't be at all It’s all your sleep, your dream, your fall You dream that you are dreaming In surrender to a call With arms outstretched and tender mind You give up your control As if you dropped a forgotten weight As if you chose to die The act has set your spirit free You know now how to fly

This is a portrait of my husband, referenced from before he cut his hair. Most of it was built using recycled paint - strips of dry paint pried out of my used plastic paint cups. It was quite a challenge and lots of fun, especially getting that intense look in his eyes. "Bushman 2", Acrylic with resin on canvas, 24 x 30"

Its been awhile since I posted a new painting, but have still been busy working on several at once. This one was completed October 19th. It is done as an illustration to a poem I wrote. More about that at another time. Titled "Driftwood 2", acrylic brushwork on canvas, 30 x 24." The original reference is from the Waskesiu area.
