"I think that Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River has been well served by the progressive voice of NDP representation, and I'm certainly running to sustain this momentum here as the MLA." The Dalhousie University professor said she understands, because of her academic background, "the urgency of combating climate change and the need to have new green jobs." Working in the Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie's Truro campus, Kevany researches community well-being and food s...ecurity. On the issue of health care, Kevany pointed to the growing number of people in her community on the Nova Scotia Health Authority's registry of people needing a family practice. As of Mar. 1, 11 per cent of Colchester County home to the Truro-area riding had signed their names to the registry, up by more than three per cent from the last monthly report. Kevany said those numbers are "so unacceptable these days, and our voters say so, too."

Happy International Women's Day! There is still so much to do to ensure women are properly represented at all levels of government. I'm proud to be running as the only woman in Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River, but I recognize the barriers are so much greater for women from marginalized backgrounds. Today, I'd like to thank all the women who have supported me throughout my life, as we continue to walk the path for equality and justice for all. #EachforEqual

A big thanks to NSNDP Leader Gary Burrill for spending the day with us in Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River today. We had a blast at the Lion’s Club breakfast, visiting friends at the Farmer’s Market, and knocking doors all afternoon.

Thank you to the Truro Homeless Outreach Society for your questionnaire on housing. There is a housing crisis in Nova Scotia, and we need action now. I am proud to be running on a program that includes major investments in affordable housing, the implementation of rent control, and a $15 minimum wage. Together, we can work to build a province where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.

My canvass teams and I are out today and all weekend talking to voters and encouraging folks to vote in the advanced poll. People are excited to elect an MLA ready to fight for health care and action on the climate crisis. Please call my office at (902) 893-8267 if you need a drive to vote or you would like to volunteer with us on election day.
