Kawartha411 is posting the live Bobcaygeon Legion Remembrance Day ceremony at 11 a.m. this morning. As the ceremony is only at the Legion this year, and space is limited, watching on video will be "our 2020 way".

2021 C.H.E.S.T. Fund Announcement You likely have heard people mention the C.H.E.S.T. Fund over the years. Because of it, about a quarter of a million dollars flows into City of Kawartha Lakes each year, and Ward 2 gets its share. Here's the story... To the surprise of many good old Monopoly players, it doesn't actually stand for Community Chest. Instead, it's Community Hydro-Electric-System Transfer. ... Almost 30 years ago now, Hydro One bought local power stations with the stipulation that money from the sale had to be spent in our community. Council decided to invest the money and make the interest available for community enhancement. Only the interest is used each year, leaving the principal untouched and it has actually grown to $20 million. The Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Committee includes councillors and members of the public who meet each year to review applications for community projects. It's wonderful to see the excellent work done each year by volunteers who put so much effort into making our community the beautiful, vibrant place we're so proud to call home.
