I’ve been playing with some new backgrounds. This little 8x8 will be heading off to the Gallery at Mattick’s Farm April 25 for the Spring Show.

I’m working on a series of small works to sort out an idea in my head. In The Clouds is the first of the series and I will be working on larger ones later on. This piece is 8x8, acrylic on wood cradle panel and is already sold.

Day 5, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a painting I did with The Island Illustrators Society. The Exhibition was held at Emily Carr House and we were challenged to paint one of Emily Carrs works. I painted this one because I love the feminine form that I see in the tree. This exercise opened my eyes to see such incredible beauty in the trees we have around us on the Island. Day 4, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a painting I did quite a while ago for the Sidney Fine Arts show. I was thrilled beyond measure to learn that it was one of two Honorable Mentions I received in that show. Day 3, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a painting that I did for the Sooke Fine Arts show a while back! This one was a labour of love and was the largest painting I have done to date. I was so pleased when a patron loved it enough to purchase it. I was able to contact her and she told me what her interpretation of it was. What a great story she had!! Day 2, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a painting that I did two years ago for the Sidney Fine Arts show. I was pleased that it sold and went to a new home. My greatest thrill as an artist is when someone is moved enough by what I’ve created that they want to keep it. I paint what I love and my hope is that the love spreads out to other people. Day 1, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a painting I did a little while ago and it’s one of my favourites! It reminds of fishing with my dad when we would take the little boat out and I would drop my well used bobber, baited with a wriggly worm into the calm waters. The thrill of waiting for the first few nibbles and watching the bobber dip was the best!! Day 7, Women's Art Challenge. Today, I am posting a collection of painted rocks. I’ve found that when I paint these little gems, it serves as a huge stress relief. They are quick, tidy and within an hour or two ...sometimes 3, voila you have created something beautiful! Instant joy! Today I leave my nomination open to any female artist who wants to participate.
