Thank you everyone for YOUR advocacy The government is providing clarity regarding pet grooming through an amendment to O.Reg 82/20 Rules for Areas in Stage... 1, which will take effect tomorrow (Thursday, February 4). This will clarify that pet grooming businesses CAN open if they: Are strictly necessary to prevent an animal from requiring foreseeable and reasonably imminent veterinary care. Are providing services that an animal owner has been required to obtain pursuant to an order issued under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act, 2019. The amendment will also clarify that pet grooming businesses may only open to provide the above-noted services if: They only provide the services by appointment. They permit only one appointment for one animal at a time. They are provided through curbside pickup and drop-off of the animal.
As you know just before the lock down a new manager arrived. Well Cherry is back to work now...the next picture is her 10 mins later
Good Afternoon Katrina, Thank you for reaching out to MPP Piccini regarding pet grooming during the province-wide lockdown and apologies for the delay in response as we looked into this for you.... Under O. Reg. 82/20, pet grooming services are not considered to be retail establishments. Therefore, businesses that provide pet grooming services are not permitted to be open including those that have capabilities for curbside pick-up. We have been made aware of some health units in other regions not being clear on the directive. With this in mind, the Ministry of Health has shared their interpretation of the regulation, and will also communicate this to public health units in an effort to achieve greater consistency across the province. However, I would like to note that pet grooming services can be provided by a veterinarian if they are required for the health and welfare of an animal. We know that this will have an impact on pet grooming businesses and we encourage anyone affected by the lockdown to apply for supports available by visiting: https://www.ontario.ca/p/businesses-get-help-covid-19-costs Please know that we appreciate your comments advocating for your local groomer and your pets wellbeing. MPP Piccini continues to advocate for uniformity in the restrictions and will discuss your comments with his colleagues in caucus. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Best wishes, Mateline Mateline Carr | Constituency Assistant Office of David Piccini Member of Provincial Parliament Northumberland Peterborough South 117 Peter St. Port Hope L1A 1C5 Constituency Office: 905-372-4000 [email protected]
