You know you have a great team when you see posts like this! One of our drivers stopped today to help a baby duck catch up with his mom! Thanks for noticing Hughie!

Well, the newly decorated residential cart collection truck made its debut today! Thank you to all of the kids who took the time to colour a heart thanking someone for their efforts during our COVID-19 home isolation! Don’t forget to bring any dog waste that you have accumulated over the winter months to the Habitat Restore Access Road near the Solid Waste Facility entrance b...etween now and Friday, April 17. Use the designated bin to dispose of dog waste and honey bags from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. By taking advantage of events such as this and annual Spring Amnesty Days, residents can assist the City in tackling complex waste management issues resulting from COVID-19. GET RID OF YOUR DOG WASTE: The City of Yellowknife is hosting a Dog Waste Collection event and encourages residents to use this opportunity to dispose of large ...amounts of dog waste that may have accumulated over the winter months. Event: Dog Waste Collection Time: Tuesday, April 14 to Friday, April 17, 2020 Location: Habitat Restore Access Road, near the Solid Waste Facility entrance We Yellowknifers love our dogs but the annual spring poop clean up is not so loveable, said City Administrator, Sheila Bassi-Kellett. The City is responding to residents’ needs to deal with a winter’s worth of waste, cleanly and safely. Thank you to everyone for continuing to hold on to all non-essential waste for the interim. Residents should use the designated bin, which will be placed near the Solid Waste Facility entrance, to dispose of dog waste and honey bags only. No other waste types will be accepted at this location. Drop-offs may take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., during the dates specified. When dropping off waste, please respect social distancing protocols, as advised by the Government of the Northwest Territories. Moving forward, residents are encouraged to dispose of weekly dog waste in black bins and to avoid stockpiling large amounts. For now, the City asks residents to store larger non-hazardous waste items, including spring cleaning, home renovation waste, etc. The City will host a second Dog Waste Collection Event in early May in addition to our annual Spring Amnesty Event. Residents are encouraged to plan their waste management strategies around these events and dates will be released in the coming weeks. In these interesting times, we are working to host events appropriately in any way that we can. To stay up to date with the latest developments, visit www.yellowknife.ca.
